Besides managing various shipyards in Germany, Stefan Schulz has occupied himself with catamarans, their design and light building techniques. 1990 he founded his own shipyard, Baltec Engineering Ltd., seated in Lübeck-Travemünde, Germany. After the production was transferred to Klaipeda in Lithuania in 1993, Baltec Engineering Ltd. advanced to be the largest manufacturer of catamarans in Germany. Its innovative yacht design, its newest designing and construction methods, its high-tech and light weight building materials such as epoxy-sandwich on the one hand, but the new space concept of the open bridge for all its types of catamarans on the other hand make Baltec trend setting in European catamaran construction.
