Company Profile

Founded in A Coruña by José Antonio Caramelo, Luis Gestal and Javier Cañás Caramelo started out by manufacturing its “antilluvia” (rainproof) raincoats.
In 1971 the company moved up in terms of quality and began to sell brand names such as Chelton, Yale and Tommy Harrods. It was not until 1984, however, that it launched its own designer name “Caramelo”, the culmination of a process that included the re-scaling and adaptation of the company to a new era.
Today Caramelo is one of the leading Spanish fashion houses, boasting over thirty years experience in the market. With some 30,000 square meters of production space and a turnover of around 71 million Euros, the firm employs 744 people.
In recent years Caramelo has experienced an unquestionable economic lift-off. Its production figures have multiplied, reaching an output of 1,500,00 garments a year. This had led to the expansion of the firm to international markets.
One of the keys to the success of Caramelo lies in the design department made up of a team of qualified professionals under the leadership of Javier Cañás Caramelo.
A spacious area of 2,000 square meters is devoted to the study of new forms, trends and market demands, with priority being given to the “Caramelo style” for the man and woman who are looking for something different in the way they dress.
