Company Profile

In 2000 Kahn-Lucas-Lancaster, Inc. celebrated 111 years of manufacturing clothing.
Their current corporation started as the Triumph Shirt Company, founded on March 12, 1889, in two farmhouses in Columbia, PA. Its early growth was marked by several moves within Columbia and, then in 1907, to a new factory. During those first 18 years, the company expanded its line from white pleated shirts to include other types of shirts and embroidery.
In 1912 a fire destroyed their factory. As a result, operations were moved to a site the company still occupies. In addition and perhaps of greater importance, in 1912 the company discontinued making shirts and embroidered goods and began manufacturing children’s clothing.
In 1916, the two small buildings it occupied were demolished and replaced by a new factory. Additions were added in 1941, 1950, 1960, and 1968.
In 1956, the company acquired the Marietta Silk Company buildings for its distribution center. Further property purchases eventually became loading docks and parking lots.
In 1980, Kahn-Lucas-Lancaster, Inc. and Lucas Manufacturing Company were merged. Additional Columbia property was bought for a piece goods warehouse and distribution center in 1985. Additional production facilities were purchased in 1980, 1983, and 1988.
Today, the company maintains office, production, distribution, and warehouse sites in Columbia, elsewhere in the USA and overseas. It has sales offices and showrooms, as well as design and production locations, in New York City.
From its humble origins, Kahn-Lucas-Lancaster, Inc. has become a major force in the children’s clothing industry. Its clothing is distributed in all 50 states and in many foreign countries. They employ more than 300 associates at present. During the last decade, their sales have grown at the healthy average pace of 18% per year.
