Gotham Angels, the creation of Sara Maragh and Kate Keene was founded in the Summer of 1999.
Sara and Kate first met while they independently designed for commercial names including some of the biggest UK multiples.
After over eight years of running Gothams holding company, Sara and Kate decided to branch out and create their own dynamic handwriting with the launch of Gotham Angels and the junior range Gotham Devils. Sara and Kate launched Gotham Angels because they wanted to produce individual and affordable designs. The desire to design Gotham Devils only came after they had children themselves and could appreciate the difficulty of finding pretty clothes that weren't too girly.
The design ethos behind Gotham Angels is not about targeting a specific market but more about appealing to a certain spirit no matter what age, the range is fashion led but never just about a new trend. Sara and Kate design what they themselves would like to wear.
The Gotham Angel Store in Islington Green opened in March 2000. As well as stocking Gotham Angels they also stock other designer labels that have been hand picked for their creativity and their suitability to compliment each other. The store has achieved cult status and have received excellent shop reviews in the press.
Along with the boutique in North London further retail sites in the UK are currently being considered.
The Spring/Summer 2002 collection has been bought by over 50 wholesale accounts and this season
Gotham Angels is represented by agents in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and Denmark.
