After several years of collective developments with companies from Germany and Switzerland, the first ground Cylkro® angular face gear is presented in October 1999. The grinding process enables Crown Gear to enter two very important markets. First, the automobile industry, that will use ground Cylkro® face gears in rear axle drives and differentials. The other market is the helicopter industry. Here, gear qualities of AGMA class 11 and 12 are required, which could not be realised with the current skive hobbing process (AGMA class 13), but which are possible thanks to the development of the grinding process.
The development of the Cylkro® grinding process is already greeted with much enthusiasm in the market, which is also proven by the second nomination in two years, this time for production technology.
