Picanol has played a pioneering role as a designer and manufacturer of high performance weaving systems for more than half a century now. In 1971, Picanol introduced the very first electronically controlled weaving machine in the world. The company was also the first weaving machine manufacturer to obtain ISO 9001 certification. The company has been quoted on Euronext market in Brussels since 1968, under the symbol PIC. Thanks to its recent acquisitions of the Belgian company Verbrugge NV and the textile department of the American company Steel Heddle Inc., Picanol now also holds a prime position on the textile machinery accessories market. This is Picanol’s first step as a supplier of total solutions for the textile industry. In addition to its headquarters in Ieper, Picanol has various branches in the United States, Asia and Europe. 2,600 weaving mills around the world currently use Picanol machinery, totalling some 80,000 weaving machines. Picanol manufactures approximately 6,000 machines a year. The company currently employs more than 2,100 people all over the world.
