                                                  • The Gemco 925 Series Cable Reel can be used as a linear position sensor in any industrial application to monitor a linear or reciprocating machine motion. The sensor package, along with the associated electronics (i.e. programmable logic controller, programmable limit switch, counter card, etc.) can sense the position of any linear motion and can, therefore, be used to control machines. The system consists of a heavy duty spring motor assembly attached to a precision machined cable drum. As the cable is pulled off of the precision drum, the drum rotates a shaft connected to it. This shaft is precisely geared such that the full number of revolutions of the drum is equal to the appropriate number of revolutions required by the chosen sensor.

Once proper shut height is determined, the readout can be recorded for use the next time the die is used in the same press, significantly reducing setup time and the number of test parts. Position accuracy of the 2110 is +/-.001".

                                                                        • The 1996 Series Ram-Set™ Press Shut Height Controller is a dedicated stand-alone system which automatically positions the press shut height to a customer predetermined location. By consistently repositioning the shut height to a known “good” value each time a die is changed, hit-to-hit times will be greatly reduced, thus saving scrap and time. Other features include relays to interface existing ram adjust up/down motor starters as well as run/interlock circuitry. An additional relay monitors the shut height position once it has been driven to a “good” value. The relay stays energized as long as the shut height stays within a programmed +/- window around the setpoint. If the slide “drifts” to an unacceptable value the relay will de-energize, which could be used to stop the press.

The actuator is stroked by means of applying power, either AC or DC, to an integral motor attached to a twin cavity housing. The housing is filled with fluid and as the motor spins it creates fluid motion. As the fluid travels through the housing it applies upward pressure to a piston that overcomes the setting spring to release the brake.

As power is introduced to the coils it creates an electro-magnetic field that brings the coils together to release the brake. Cutting power to the coils allows the spring to extend back to its normal state and sets the brake.

Shunt or series coils are available and rated for continuous or intermittent duty ratings. We also offer single point adjustment on magnetic brakes 8" in wheel diameter or larger. This speeds up the brake installation and shoe lining wear adjustment by a single point adjusting feature.
