Eggersmann FUEL

With Eggersmann FUEL, we offer you solutions for the production of refuse derived fuels (RDF) from mixed municipal waste. By using the Eggersmann FUEL process, the use of fossil fuels can be reduced in energy-intensive industries. In addition, the  standardised process allows affordable waste treatment also in  countries, where landfilling or dumping of waste still is the main or only disposal method. Landfilling or dumping of unprocessed waste has substantial negative impact: 

• The waste contains pollutants that are released uncontrolled into the environment, mainly into air, ground and waterways – the released toxic gases are not only polluting the environment but also harm people living within a few kilometers around the landfill or dumpsite 
• The decomposition of the organic components of the waste produces a huge amount of CH4, a major contributor to global warming
• Landfill fires are a very common side effect of landfilling unprocessed waste

As an alternative, Eggersmann FUEL offers the possibility to recycle 80% of the waste safely and economically. A combination of well-proven and synchronised Eggersmann components is used as a system solution: In the first step, the MSW is shredded, using a TEUTON shredder. The shredded waste is then biologically dried using the CONVAERO process. Depending on the plant capacity and the automation requirements, CONVAERO CON turners are used to accelerate the drying – the world's biggest turners available. 

The drying time depends on the required calorific value or the maximum allowed remaining water content of the RDF. The dried MSW is refined by mechanical  processing, depending on the required RDF properties. The extraction of high value recyclables for resale is possible as well. As standard, ferrous metal is recovered using over-belt magnets. Non-ferrous metal and different types of plastic can be recovered as well. 

Besides rejects and recyclables, the main product is RDF. RDF is used worldwide as fuel for cement kilns and purposly build power plants. Eggersmann FUEL can convert a waste incinerator into a real power generating plant. Due to maximised landfill diversion, the lifetime of existing landfills are extended by factor 6 – 8.
