Telemetry measurement systems for highest requirements

Applications for Turbines

Turbines are among the most powerful machines of all. The mechanically usable power of turbines, which can amount to an incredible 1.5 gigawatts, is obtained via the turbine blades and finally delivered to coupled machines via turbine shafts, where the highest speeds dominate. Knowing the load on the blades, especially when vibrations are excited, is of enormous importance for qualification. The same applies to thermal loading. MANNER measuring technology allows these variables to be recorded dynamically and the operational stability of the turbine to be derived from the data. Our measuring systems are used in this extreme and challenging environment where, among other things, accuracy, robustness and temperature stability are required.

MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH has been proving its know-how in the challenging measurement application of single or multi-shaft turbine machines for many years.

With the help of our non-contact sensor telemetry, the thermal load on the turbine blades can be determined just as easily and precisely as the rotational speed or blade vibrations. In this way, material fatigue on the blades can be avoided, thus preventing fatal damage, while the simple collection of measurement data is guaranteed by specially programmed telemetry software.

Through torque monitoring and the measurement of further characteristic values, we also help our international customers to continuously optimize the performance, efficiency and effectiveness of complex turbine systems and thus achieve decisive competitive advantages.

Torque Monitoring

Torque Monitoring on Gas Turbine / Compressor

When kinetic energy is converted into rotational energy, the turbine shaft is set in rotation. This transmits the usable power to the coupled output such as generator, pump, compressor or thruster.

For many years MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH has proven its know-how in the demanding measurement application of single or multi-shaft turbine machines in both the compression and turbine stages. We help our international customers to optimize the performance, efficiency and effectiveness of these complex systems. Take advantage of the well-known benefits of MANNER Sensortelemetry for your measurements on turbine shafts and gain decisive competitive advantages.

In addition to torque monitoring, which is often in the foreground, our systems can also optionally measure:

  • Speed
  • Compressive and tensile forces
  • Bending moments
  • Temperatures
  • Vibrations

Vibration Analysis

Vibration Analysis on Turbine Blades

Our customers in the field of fluid power machines particularly appreciate our sensor-telemetric measuring systems for the detection of blade vibrations in turbines. Transient aerodynamic effects and aerodynamic forces force oscillations of the rotor blades, which in many cases requires the exact recording of various characteristic values of these vibrations.

With regard to material fatigue on turbine blades, numerous customers work with MANNER turbine telemetry. This makes it easier to predict any fatigue phenomena such as crack propagation and even blade breakage. Our turbine telemetry is also sucessfully used for testing purposes regarding blade design, material and alloy.

With the help of our non-contact sensor telemetry, there is nothing to stop the optimization of strength, aerodynamics, efficiency and service life of turbines and turbine blades. Our applications are particularly distinguished in this respect:

  • Exact recording of blade and vane vibrations at highest speeds
  • Contactless energy transmission by means of inductive coupling
  • Simple evaluation of the measurement data via evaluation unit and specially programmed telemetry software from MANNER
  • High accuracy and security of digital measurement data
  • High temperature resistance (up to 150°C)
  • Miniaturized and low-weight design
  • Extremely low installation effort
