COR presents new seating furniture models of 2014

ELM, the upholstered furniture range with an exposed wooden frame, is aesthetically pleasing and almost “Scandinavian”. CONSETA surprises on its 50th birthday with a sofa bed and features which are reminiscent of the original design. And the JALIS family can be found at the bar.

The designers Jehs+Laub have already developed the upholstered furniture JALIS and MELL/MELL LOUNGE, the easy chair CORDIA and the SHRIMP family (lounge chair, easy chair and chairs) for our collections. With their new design ELM they have transported the inner values of COR, including the excellent wood finishing, to the outside. “Aesthetic in every detail and sophisticated in design,” is how the designers sum up their concept, “the special thing about it is a structure which is completely different than usual, yet nevertheless has a light and very homely look and feel about it.” Sumptuous yet seemingly weightless cushions and comfortable seat upholstery have been embedded in the solid, gently curved exposed wood frame made of oak or walnut. A slatted frame forms the substructure – an unusual design principle for this type of furniture: “ELM reinterprets the typical COR design: craftsmanship, seating comfort and transparency with regard to all the materials used. Every detail is instantly visible and surprises with numerous fine touches.

” ELM is indirectly reminiscent of Scandinavian furniture at the beginning of the 20th century and in the 1960s and 1970s. The new range’s “affinity with nature” comes with a similar material selection (wood), but is designed in innovative lines with more voluminous proportions and upholstery. The furniture range embraces sofas, recamiers, easy chairs, stools and matching coffee tables with glass tops which also serve to emphasise the beauty of the wood’s grain and fine finishing. Covers are available in fabric or leather.

Back to the beginning? CONSETA

Since 1964, the sofa range has been carefully but continuously further developed in the course of model upgrading. The current result is a new sofa bed that guarantees high sitting and lying comfort as well as effortless transformation. Elegant skids produced in steel or lacquered in RAL colours provide optimal floor clearance for sofas and easy chairs. Just how timeless the design already was when it first appeared in the early sixties is demonstrated by the current models of the “Ur-CONSETA” (primal CONSETA) range with flat armrests, backs and table elements that can be integrated or used individually. Interesting seat ensembles, including angled arrangements, can be created with the new low upholstered stools. Standing alone, they can be used as tables or to complement individual easy chairs and sofas for a comfy reclining position. Covers are available in fabric or leather. Design: COR

COR can boast many examples of successful furniture programmes being further developed to create entire model families such as QUANT, RAWI and JALIS, introduced in 2011. This innovative design – the basic idea being a folded cushion – allows the planning of cosy seating landscapes which rest on flat pedestals. This was followed by upholstered chairs on solid wood or metal frames that can be combined with many different table models. In 2014, new bar stools with and without armrests will be shown that can be used in living areas, living-dining rooms, restaurants/bars or in the contract segment. The subframes come in metal or wood as required and customised to match the surrounding interior. Covers are available in fabric or leather. Design: Jehs+Laub.
