For applications with changing flow rate requirement, HAWE Hydraulik SE, Munich, offers the compact power pack type HKF with a speed-controlled motor. In this version the power pack supplies the hydraulic consumers in an energy-efficient manner in response to demand, for example the hydraulic functions in lathes. Speed regulation causes the unit to compensate the flow rate taken off by the hydraulic consumers and in this way the pressure level is maintained. At the same time the motor functions at high efficiency.
As a result, the speed-controlled compact power pack increases the energy efficiency of the machine in which it is used. Compared with conventional systems where the electro-hydraulic efficiency is around 35%, speed-controlled drives attain efficiencies in excess of 55%. This means that a power pack rated at 3 kW reduces average power consumption by 1 kW.
The power pack is equipped with a fan that dissipates heat from the motor via the housing. Separate cooling is not necessary.
