The efficient HybridDrive by receives Frost & Sullivan’s Global \u00a0Product \u00a0Differentiation Excellence Award 2013<\/p>\n

The modular design of\u00a0the\u00a0HybridDrive is lauded for minimizing complexity and cost of service for wind energy producers.<\/p>\n

Based on its recent analysis of gearboxes for the wind energy market, the global research organization Frost & Sullivan conferred the 2013 Global Product Differentiation Excellence Award to Winergy\u2019s HybridDrive due to its higher torque\u2013to-weight ratio, shorter length, and lower mass leading to reduced overall costs for the wind turbine installation.<\/p>\n

Winergy\u2019s HybridDrive combines a two-stage-planetary gearbox with a permanent-magnet generator into an integrated drivetrain resulting in length reduction of 35 to 50 percent for the entire drivetrain. The system has a power transmission efficiency of more than 96.5%.<\/p>\n

\u201cThus, Winergy manages to decrease the weight of the drivetrain up to 10 percent for larger turbines\u201d says Krishna Raman, a Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst.<\/p>\n

Customers of the HybridDrive can choose between journal bearings and standard antifriction bearings, whereas the former results in less abrasion and an increase of the wind turbine\u2019s availability.<\/p>\n

Naturally, the design of the HybridDrive complies with the 2010 \u201cGL Guideline for the Certification of Wind Turbines.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy decreasing the mass and increasing the torque-to-weight ratio of the drivetrain, HybridDrive has resolved the issue of the inverse correlation between ROIs and power capacities of a wind turbine,\u201d noted Raman.<\/p>\n

Winergy sets a milestone in the development of wind turbine drive trains with the Hybrid Drive, and since October 2013 the 3MW HybridDrive has been installed in a Wind-to-Energy (W2E) turbine in northern Germany and has produced more than 4 Mio. kWh.<\/p>\n
