On January 1, 2015, efficiency requirements on electric motors in the European Union will become stricter according to the Regulation (EC) 640\/2009 implementing Ecodesign Directive 2005\/32\/EC. As of that date, motors with a performance between 7.5 and 375 kW that are designed for continuous operation with a constant load must at least comply with the energy efficiency standard IE3.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, motors that meet the IE2 efficiency level and are equipped with a variable speed drive can be used. NORD DRIVESYSTEMS provides extensive information as well as expert consulting for customers wishing to select and design suitable motors and complete drive systems. In order to make the changeover easy for machine and plant manufacturers, the dimensions of NORD\u2019s IE3 motors will remain largely identical to those of IE2 models, allowing for retrofitting without any modifications to machines and plants.<\/p>\n
