The use of high-speed cameras, not only for visualising fast 2D\/3D processes but calculating them as well, has found its way into science and research as well as industrial applications. The main reasons behind this are quality assurance and the need to have complete control over production processes and customer applications that have now become very complex. This in turn drives forward innovation to facilitate the calculation of high-speed processes. Consistently high rates of growth in industrial image processing (IBV) are therefore expected over the next few years.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s high-speed cameras are equipped with high-quality CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensors, enabling them to record up to 10 billion pixels per second. This makes high-speed cameras the ideal solution for quality assurance in ultra-fast processes. They can cope with the enormous clock times in automated production and record high-precision measurements at the same time.<\/p>\n

Maximum data streams<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sensor manufacturers are following this trend and will probably focus on the development of sensors with large formats in 2015. Apart from a high frame rate, these are also able to record very detailed images.<\/p>\n

There is also a growing trend towards camera interfaces which are equal to high performance requirements. Optronis has opted for the CoaXPress interface, which exhibits a high level of scalability and maximum efficiency during the transfer of camera data. The CoaXPress interface is capable of transmitting and processing data streams of several billion pixels per second. The data rate is currently 25 billion bits\/sec (4×6.25 billion bits\/second*channel) and the Standard 2.0 should be able to process even higher data streams in future. The foundations for this were laid in 2014.<\/p>\n

Optronis cameras are equipped for the future<\/strong><\/p>\n

With its portfolio of high-speed cameras, Optronis provides a solution to a multitude of challenges: the CamPerform camera series delivers measurements directly to a connected PC and allows image data to be calculated \u201cinline\u201d with no delay. At the same time, Optronis offers easy access to technology through the Genicam software interface and security when using the camera through the reproducibility of measurements to EMVA1288 standard requirements. The CamRecord series delivers measurement data to the memory in the camera and facilitates \u201coffline\u201d calculation of the data. At the same time, Optronis provides fast and uncomplicated access to the measurements with TimeBench analysis software.<\/p>\n

Optronis is thus equipped to meet future requirements. The company has a positive outlook on 2015, when it expects to present a few new products yet again.<\/p>\n
