Hydraulic systems from HAWE Hydraulik SE, Munich, cut the chip-to-chip time in machining centers. These systems provide a large flow rate and avoid pressure losses. This enables a tool to be released from the spindle within a very short time and another tool clamped in position. The faster the tool change, the more productive the machine.<\/p>\n

A hydraulic system of this type consists of a power pack, valve block and hydraulic accumulator. The accumulator provides the pressure for delivering the required flow rate, and is mounted directly on the valve block. HAWE Hydraulik manufactures highly compact components, allowing the valve blocks to be positioned close to the spindle and so avoiding pressure losses. The required hydraulic volume is available directly.<\/p>\n

It is also possible to overexcite the valve spools, which reduces the switching time of the valves. This makes it possible to further reduce the time taken to release the tool by up to 50 ms. The blocks are available in various sizes for a flow rate of over 60 l\/min. They can be equipped with a pressure switch that monitors the release process and also the clamping process if necessary.<\/p>\n

Since the hydraulic accumulator provides the power, a power pack with small dimensions and low electrical power consumption is adequate for the purpose. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the power pack can be accommodated anywhere in the machine, and there are no line losses to the valve block with the accumulator that could affect the performance of the release function. The hydraulic power pack can also supply other functions, such as clamping of axes or work pieces, or actuating the pallet changer.<\/p>\n
