For production and assembly stations that accommodate various formats,\u00a0manually positioning equipment can consume a great deal of\u00a0the overall production time depending on the quantities to be produced\u00a0and the amount of variation in a given product. Because they\u00a0can be set to operate automatically without the use of a hand wheel,\u00a0intelligent positioning systems represent a convenient alternative. Designed\u00a0as a complete solution with a brushless DC motor, these compact\u00a0halstrup-walcher instruments also include a gear, controller and\u00a0absolute measuring system.<\/p>\n

\"\"As a supplement to the successful PSE 3xx series, models are now\u00a0available in stainless steel housing (protection class IP 68). The new\u00a0PSE 36x\/38x and PSE 37x\/39x units (longitudinal and horizontal construction;\u00a030 or 50 W) can be washed and are resistant to liquids like\u00a0lyes, making them perfect for use in the food and beverage industry.\u00a0These models are especially suitable for clean rooms, as personnel\u00a0no longer need to enter the rooms to adjust machine positioning,\u00a0thereby eliminating the need for subsequent sterilization.<\/p>\n

The integrated electronic control feature of these positioning systems\u00a0frees up the machine’s central control unit. No external motors, proximity\u00a0and limit switches, pulse generators or encoders required. The\u00a0hollow shaft and adjustable collar make these units easy to assemble \u00a0\u2013 simply by tightening a single screw. The unit is operable as soon as\u00a0it is hooked up to a 24-volt power supply and data link (via CAN bus,\u00a0Profibus or DeviceNet). Existing equipment can be retrofitted simply\u00a0by replacing the hand wheel, a modification that, due to the compact\u00a0construction of the unit, can generally be accomplished with out making\u00a0any changes to the machine itself.<\/p>\n
