Feedstock, or inputs, are the organic materials that are fed into the digester. The range of feedstocks that can be used for biogas production is long and varied: from energy crops and catch crops to various organic residues (agricultural, industrial, urban).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Used in a biogas plant, energy can be generated from these materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agricultural businesses often have a large amount of \u201cunused\u201d agricultural residues. Used as an input material for the biogas plant, a valuable ecological use is made possible. Manure, slurry, feed residues or beet pulp are good candidates for feeding a biogas plant!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To complete the feed of your biogas plant and diversify the farm, catch crops are a good addition. These are placed between two main crops and offer economic benefits by improving the quality of the soil. Different species can be used for this purpose (e.g., sunflower, triticale, clover, mustard\u2026), all of them having a high methane potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike dedicated energy crops, whose use is capped in the overall feedstock mix, the use of catch crops is not subject to a limitation. The most complicated part will remain determining sowing and harvesting dates without causing damage to the main crops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
