With the MD265 Supreme and MC268 Advance, Walter is extending its range of solid carbide milling cutters for ISO N machining with the addition of two distinct roughing specialists. The MD265 Supreme three-edged cutter (dia. 16\u201325 mm), available with or without coating, stands out due to its coolant channels in a star-shaped configuration, as well as robust cutting edges with RAPAX profile. It was designed to achieve high productivity and process reliability, for example in the automotive industry. Whether uncoated with polished surfaces or coated with Walter’s new WJ30DD grade, it can optimise chip removal, reduce material build-up and extend tool life, especially when using die-cast aluminium with a high silicon content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MC268 Advance (dia. 6\u201325 mm) with polished Kordel profile can be used universally and is designed for long-chipping wrought aluminium alloys which are often found in the aviation industry, for example. The coolant outlets of the three- or four-edged milling cutter are arranged radially. It is ideal for innovative strategies such as dynamic milling and reduces tool costs because it can be reconditioned. Both solid carbide milling cutters aim to reduce machining times in ISO N and, crucially, to increase the machining volume. The V-shaped cutting edge, which is typical of both milling cutters and was developed in-house at Walter, is the only one of its kind on the market so far and minimises heat ingress into the material. The grooved cutting edge profiles of the milling cutters split the chips up into short, easily manageable segments. This increases process reliability and allows users to work with a reduced cutting force \u2013 which saves on spindle output and maximises the efficiency of the output used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
