Vestas has received its first firm order for a prototype of the V162-7.2 MW wind turbine, one of the latest additions to Vestas EnVentus Platform. The order was placed by B\u00fcrgerwindpark Janneby eG for the Janneby wind project in Schleswig-Holstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2023, Vestas also installed a V162-7.2 MW prototype in the \u00d8sterild National test centre for large wind turbines in Western Jutland, Denmark. The two prototypes will undergo an extensive test and verification programme in parallel to efficiently ensure reliability before serial production begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The order includes supply, delivery, and commissioning of one V162-7.2 MW wind turbine and Vestas will service the prototype under a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We thank B\u00fcrgerwindpark Janneby for their trust and collaboration that enable us to perform rigorous testing of our new turbine to ensure optimised reliability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u00f6rg Peter Thordsen, board member of B\u00fcrgerwindpark Janneby eG, says: As the operator of Germany’s largest pilot wind turbine test and certification site, we are proud to build the Vestas V162-7.2 MW at our wind park. We are pleased to be able to participate in the development of this next generation of wind turbines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed with the full value chain in mind, the V162-7.2 MW realises improved transportability of the nacelle unit, as well as the flexibility to service and upgrades over the turbine\u2019s operational lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turbine delivery will begin in the first quarter of 2024 with commissioning scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
