Offshore turbines with an output of<br>up to 20 MW are being planned, and the necessary test equipment is already available: For example, a large international transmission manufacturer recently built a test bench designed for a maximum of 30 MW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mechanical engineering is essential for the expansion of wind power. Dr Wilfried Sch\u00e4fer, Managing Director of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA): \u201cMachine tools are the backbone of the industry. They are indispensable for the production of high-precision and efficient components in wind power.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why there is a joint VDMA stand at WindEnergy, which promotes dialogue between the various players in the industry. \u201cCooperation and dialogue with the wind power community are of the utmost importance,\u201c explains Dipl.-Ing. Hubert Erz, Senior Consultant Sales Renewables at Starrag. \u201cThe integration of new technologies and the continuous improvement of our machines enable us to offer customised solutions for our customers\u2018 requirements.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cooperation with Denmark in XXL format<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Reasons enough for a presence at the joint stand, where Starrag is presenting the special solutions for the<br>renewables market segment, which are often developed in cooperation with customers. One example of this is a project in XXL format for longstanding regular customer Haco: In cooperation, the Bielefeld Starrag plant developed portal milling machines for the production of rotor housings with a maximum diameter of 13 m and a weight of up to 150 tonnes. The ability to machine in a single clamping<br>operation significantly reduces the production time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A well-rounded offer: Machining complex components<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The stability and efficiency of wind turbines stands and falls with complex components such as planetary<br>carriers, torque supports or slewing bearings. This is where the vertical D\u00f6rries turning lathes come into play which ensure high precision during machining thanks to their special angle heads and measuring probes. The newly launched D\u00f6rries VT 28 is the first vertical turning lathe in a new series that combines the proven technology of the successful VCE series with new, innovative solutions. The new machine has been completely redesigned and is designed for multifunctional, high-precision and flexible pre-machining and finishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vertical Berthiez <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expo21xx.com\/metalworking\/grinding_polishing.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grinding machines<\/a>, which received a second support, are also a talking point among production experts. It improves the static and dynamic rigidity in order to increase the machining performance and thus reduce the machining time. This production technology from France has proven itself in the high-precision grinding of roller bearing rings and gears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the secrets of the business segment\u2018s success is its specialised application developments, one of<br>the strengths of the entire Starrag. The Heckert machining centres, for example, are quills based on extensive experience with orders for a large, well-known pioneer in the wind power scene. Quills are particularly suitable for the precise drilling of deep and difficult-to-access holes, for example in complex gearbox housings.
