Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets used in these fields have to meet the latest safety standards and be reliable and convenient to operate even in the most adverse environmental conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the new Tab-Ex\u00ae 05, Pepperl+Fuchs<\/a> is launching the first\u00a05G-capable Android tablet with an 8-inch screen\u00a0that is approved for use in Zone 1\/21 and Div. 1. The\u00a0Android Enterprise Recommended\u00a0device is based on the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 and comes with a range of sophisticated features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Powerful Without Compromise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Tab-Ex 05 has\u00a06 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM, which can be expanded to up to 1 TB via microSD. It is also equipped with a 13 MP camera on the back and a 5 MP camera on the front, which deliver\u00a0high-resolution image\u00a0and video recordings. Like its predecessor models, the Tab-Ex 05 features an individually programmable button that can be assigned to emergency calls or push-to-talk applications, for example. The S Pen Stylus pen with a fine 0.7 mm tip complements the user-friendly operating concept and allows handwritten notes to be taken or\u00a0digital signatures\u00a0to be captured on the move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Certified for Global Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The most recent addition to the Tab-Ex series complies with the\u00a0latest European and international standards\u00a0and meets approvals for global use. The basic Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 device also has the internationally recognized\u00a0Common Criteria security certification. Guaranteed operating system updates up to Android 22 and security updates up to 2032 offer companies a high degree of future security when it comes to selecting tablet solutions for long-term global use in industrial applications and hazardous areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the wet touch function and\u00a0<\/strong>IP68 degree of protection, the tablet is protected against the ingress of water and enables smooth operation in rain and snow. Even in outdoor areas of industrial plants, the device can be operated comfortably and without restrictions in glove mode.\u00a0Biometric authentication technologies\u00a0are also a particular advantage: state-of-the-art facial recognition functions ensure maximum security and user-friendliness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tab-Ex 05 really shows its strengths in complex applications based on augmented reality (AR). The tablet has an AR-capable camera and an extended set of tracking tools\u2014including an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a GPS module, and a geomagnetic sensor. This enables\u00a0location-based AR functions\u00a0such as indoor localization, which makes working in hazardous areas even safer. Due to\u00a0Google ARCore certification, the Tab-Ex 05 is ideally suited for remote support, training, and the use of company-specific tools. This makes the tablet an efficient companion in a wide range of industrial applications, from administration to predictive maintenance of systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users can flexibly decide at any time whether they want to use the tablet on the move or in the office in\u00a0wireless DeX mode\u00a0(desktop mode) with a larger screen, creating a fully-fledged and cost-saving alternative to stationary desktop PCs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
