Principle of an Architecture, “Prinzip einer Architektur” – this was the name Werner Blaser gave to his series of furniture made of specially-jointed wood in 1975. “The art of the joints in furniture creates an appreciation of the inconspicuous, the unobtrusive and the thoughtful again. They are the artistic design language of modernism. Their fragility is a kind of period style. The pure, the inconspicuous and the reflective become an astute perception,” says architect and publicist Werner Blaser of his furniture designs.<\/p>\n

The dovetailed frames, which are made of European matt-painted, solid oak, are joined to an ensemble consisting of a chair and a stool covered with black butt leather, a matching table with black-stained oak veneer plywood measuring either 160 x 80 cm or 80 x 80 cm, a lounge combination with identical lounge tables measuring 120 x 45 cm or 45 x 45 cm, and an armchair with padded seat covers on black butt leather bands.<\/p>\n

Simplicity here stands for concentration on the essential – the best materials, open workmanship in an honest tradition of craftsmanship for use by many generations and life-long pleasure in this furniture from the L\u00d6FFLER EDITION.<\/p>\n

The chair that the L\u00d6FFLER EDITION is now also making again from a design by Werner Blaser from 1958 is called “All-in-One”. The nickel-plated, polished steel tube frame is held together by a Blaser fastener; the three-sided seat and the backrest come in a model made of shaped beech or padded with ROHI fabrics. This early item of furniture by Werner Blaser is an expression of the Swiss designer’s exploration of Asian form which he discovered and documented during his university studies in the 1950s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
