Under the motto \u201cBeyond Precision,\u201d F. Zimmermann will be presenting milling solutions at EMO in Hanover (September 22 to 26) whose precision far exceeds user requirements. The trade fair will feature both an extremely compact portal milling machine and an extremely powerful, dynamic 5-axis milling head for heavy-duty machining. Visitors will be able to take a virtual tour of a complete machine park.<\/p>\n\n\n

The high-precision portal milling machines from F. Zimmermann<\/a> reduce rework, shorten delivery times, and open the door to industries with high requirements. This gives the machine manufacturer\u2019s customers a clear competitive advantage. The high-tech supplier will be demonstrating this at EMO, arguably the most important machine tool trade fair in the world. The machine manufacturer will be presenting the\u00a0FZU22<\/a>, the most compact portal milling machine in its portfolio, to visitors. It is a cost-effective solution for machining aluminum, composites, and plastics. Components made of these materials are clamped onto the machine. In the live demonstrations, the milling head moves and a tool change is also demonstrated\u2014without actual machining. The machine impresses with its compactness, thermosymmetrical system, and milling head, which is also ideal for hard-to-reach areas. The working area is 1,800 \u00d7 3,000 \u00d7 1,250 millimeters. At the trade fair, the FZU22 will be equipped with a tool changer and cooling system, among other features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

F. Zimmermann demonstrates the possibilities of heavy-duty machining with the VH60 milling head \u2013 which is, however, much too large for the FZU22. This puts a second focus on this powerful, dynamic 2-axis milling head for HSC machining of high-strength or tough materials such as steel and titanium, but also aluminum. Roughing and subsequent finishing of very different workpieces can be carried out without re-clamping. The fork head is designed as a monoblock made of cast iron. It is temperature-stable, and the integrated vibration damping ensures even more precise results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors cannot physically enter a complete machine park, but they can do so virtually. F. Zimmermann provides VR glasses for this third focus area. In the virtual environment, visitors experience three different machines that move and, in some cases, also mill. Among other things, they see a spindle change and can view automation solutions such as a pallet handling system up close. The simulation is supplemented by other components, such as the highly efficient ZIM Rack tool changer developed by Zimmermann. \u201cThe virtual environment conveys a realistic sense of the size and power of the systems \u2013 comparable to the experience in a game,\u201d says Marketing Manager Sandra Bayer Teixeira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another topic at EMO will be digital security, which is becoming increasingly important for machines \u2013 not only from a technical perspective, but also from a legal one. With the CRA (Cyber Resilience Act), the NIS 2 Directive (Network and Information Security) and the Machinery Regulation, the EU has been imposing new IT security requirements since the end of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For F. Zimmermann, EMO is the perfect platform for reaching an international target group. \u201cThe US is particularly important, but new markets are also opening up, such as India,\u201d explains Sandra Bayer Teixeira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
