  • Disc Finishing Machines

  • Workpieces and abrasives are loosely placed in an open-topped working container and placed in a toroidal flow through the tray formed as a disc. The centrifugal force accelerates the workpieces together with the grinding wheels to the standing streamlined inner wall of the working container. Due to their different density, the workpiece and the abrasive body perform a relative movement. This dynamic flow allows high, targeted material removal with very short processing times compared to vibrators or drums.

    • Trough Vibrators

    • In the vibratory process, the workpieces and the abrasive are loosely placed in an open-topped working container (trough) and offset by imbalances in short oscillations, which forces the mixture in a screw or ringing toroidal (long or round trough). Due to their different density workpiece and grinding body perform a relative movement, which allows a material removal. Vibrators are universal vibratory finishing machines and can be used for a variety of workpieces and machining targets that cause problems in drum and centrifugal grinding. They are particularly suitable for the low-cost high-gloss polishing of highly sensitive workpieces, thi smeans from rough pre-sanding to the production of electroplated surfaces.

      • Round Troughs

      • Workpieces and grinding media are put into motion in an open-topped trough. Due to imbalances the trough is set into short vibrations, which forces the mixture into spiral- and toroid-shaped motion. Finishing will be achieved by a relative movement of workpieces and grinding media caused by different specific gravity. Vibratory finishing systems are universal and can be used for a variety of workpieces and processing objectives that lead the drum and centrifugal disc systems to problems.           • Consumables

          • The choice of process medium in quality and form is the key to the optimum finish in the interaction of workpiece and machine. A large number of grinding and polishing media as well as granulates, compounds and additives are available for your process.
              • Ceramic Media

              • Ceramic grinding and polishing media are distinguished by hardness ratings of 7.3 - 8.5 Mohs and density ratings of 2.37 - 3.51 g/cm³. This results in high grinding performance with high grinding pressure. Light and shiny surface finishes are typical. Ceramic grinding and polishing media have a long service life and can maintain their original shape during operation.
              • Plastic Media

              • Synthetically bound grinding and polishing media have a lower density rating of 1.61 - 1.89 g/cm³ and, thanks to the selection of different grinding effects, they are the best choice for gentle and splinter-free processing by high demands on the surface quality of non-ferrous metals or soft surfaces.
              • Granulate

              • Nut shell granulate is used as a carrier medium for polishing and grinding pastes in dry polishing and grinding. A distinction is made between unimpregnated qualities and impregnated qualities appropriate to their utilization which have to be resharpened at regular intervals.

                For the right polishing and grinding pressure, there is a whole range of grain sizes that can be used for your application.

              • Compound

              • During the grinding process with water, compounds absorb the by-product of the grinding elements and the workpieces while helping to transport these away. Thanks to additives in the compound, this process is accompanied by cleaning, brightening and passivation of the workpiece.
              • Additives

              • With additives such as pastes and adhesive oils the proportion of polishing and grinding particles in dry polishing and grinding processes are metered ("resharpening") and binds grinding, dust and dirt particles ("regreasing").
            • Dryer

            • To avoid corrosion or staining, workpieces must be dried after tumbling. With our media dryers and hot-air centrifuge dryers, we have a solution for complex and sensitive workpieces.

                • Applications

                    • Deburring

                    • During the processes of casting, sawing, laser cutting and machining of metal and plastic parts, sharp burs can remain at the workpiece edges. For safety reasons, as well as for complete automation and excellent haptic, these burs should be removed and edges shall be rounded for further processing and continued use.

                      In particular, the external contours of workpieces will be deburred with the use of vibratory finishing. The deburring of inner contours can only be achieved with a sufficient movement of abrasives inside the parts.

                      Deburring via vibratory finishing represents a cost-effective method to adapt contours and surface structures of workpieces to individual qualitatively needs and requirements
                    • Rounding

                    • Optimum edge rounding for workpieces with excellent sliding characteristics, e.g. optimum thread guidance, good automation capacity or simply excellent haptic is prerequisite.

                      With the use of vibratory finishing, a well-defined material removal can be achieved on the workpiece edge at simultaneously high precision of the process.
                    • Grinding

                    • Vibratory finishing enables the fast and easy removal of mould separation burrs, ghost lines after turning and milling, as well as a further variety of burrs, which occur after machining.

                      The grinding and fine grinding process creates finely textured and homogenous surface structures regardless of the complexity of part geometry.
                    • Smoothing

                    • Workpieces, made of metal, plastic or ceramics, often require smooth surface structures prior to use or for the preparation of subsequent processes.

                      Any surface roughness due to casting and the sintering process or machining and the additive manufacturing process can be specifically reduced due to homogenous material removal on the workpieces.
                    • Polishing

                    • Cleaning

                    • The further preparation of workpieces sometimes places high demands on the cleaning process.

                      Grease, oil residues and other adhesions on the workpiece surface will be gently and cost-effectively removed under the influence of mechanical action by the use of special compounds.
