Which fieldbus system is suitable best to meet your specific needs? Lumberg Automation looks forward to supporting you when choosing the ideal fieldbus system and introducing a decentralized wiring concept. We offer you a “round“ program of components for connection to sensors and actuators in the field (e.g. proximity switches, motor starters and valves). High protection classes are considered self-evident; so are shock and vibration resistances. Therefore, our fieldbus systems are also suitable for application in extreme surroundings. AS-Interface
The AS-Interface concept permits fast and easy installation. Therefore, this system is also ideal for entry into bus technology. As bus arrangements can be chosen arbitrarily (e.g. line, tree, star), they can be adapted perfectly to the machine. That mono-master system for up to 62 participants is especially appropriate for smaller machines or subsystems. Apart from the typical AS-i flat ribbon cable Lumberg Automation additionally offers modules with connection for round cables.

Interbus
The topology of an interbus network is physically ring-shaped, however, due to special cabling the appearance is that of a line or tree structure. In the case of interbus difference is made between the subsystems remote bus, installation remote bus and local bus. Interbus is a mono-master system for up to 512 participants. The connection for the Interbus and the power supply is effected via M23 connectors.

e2c 67 – easy to connect
The AS-Interface concept permits fast and easy installation. Therefore, this system is also ideal for entry into bus technology. As bus arrangements can be chosen arbitrarily (e.g. line, tree, star), they can be adapted perfectly to the machine. That mono-master system for up to 62 participants is especially appropriate for smaller machines or subsystems. e2c 20 – easy to connect
The IP 20 distributed I/O system for switch cabinets: e2c 20 is a compact, IP20 rated,
modular fieldbus station that enables a wide range of flexible applications. Features setting e2c 20 apart
are a removable connection block with spring-loaded terminals and flat cable connection for modules with 16
inputs and 16 outputs on a space-saving 12 mm overall width. e2c 20 supports ProfiBus, CANopen and DeviceNet
bus systems, whereby only the "bus couplers" contain the field busspecific electronics.

the bus coupler
The bus coupler is a component that depends on the fieldbus and
exchange process, in addition to the diagnostic data from the station.
At the same time, the bus coupler uses the internal bus to
control communication with the aligned I/O modules. The station
is supplied with power entirely over the bus coupler. The I/O modules
are aligned next to the bus coupler.

Interface to sensors and actuators: I/O modules
Modules are available with both digital and analog inputs and
outputs. Digital I/O modules are available with 4, 8
or 16 channels. The different number of channels
allows users to adapt the station as needed.
Analog modules can have 4 (input modules) or 2
channels (output modules), which are sufficient for
the most commonly used measuring ranges.

Special modules
A module enabling 24-V connection and a current carrying capacity
of up to 10 A is provided to allow hook-up of additional power
for the system and field. Higher voltages of up to 230 V can be
connected using a module with two relay outputs. The higher
voltage is supplied over an additional module. Additional modules
enabling voltage distribution are available for connection of
24V, 0V, and functional ground or shield for sensors and actuators

End cap
The station is terminated with an end cap. The end cap shields
contacts for the internal bus while protecting the power supply
from inadvertent contact or damage

Distribution Boxes
Save the time needed for the lengthy and expensive installation of terminal blocks in enclosures. Actuator/sensor distributors are integrated directly into machines and plants. For that purpose, a wide product range is available for most different applications. The distributors are checked 100 % at the time of production to guarantee operational safety. They meet requirements of protection classes IP 67, IP 68 or IP 69 K for maximum demands.

Space saving wiring
The use of 2-way distributors is particularly advantageous where
space is tight but a high number of I/O points is required. If, for
example, 11 signals are to be controlled, the use of a 6-way distributor

T-connectors for use with Fieldbus
In the Fieldbus area, T-connectors enable the connection of active
bus participants on the bus circuit. The connection is either
direct, in that the T-connectors is placed on the
bus participant or is used as a drop line between
the bus participant and the bus circuit. IP 67 protection
guarantees the use of the products
directly in the field T-connectors can also be used
to supply power to active distributors.

power feed to be passed from
one module to the next.

For a new generation of FIXCON connectors, a T-connector is
available with combined FIXCON/M12 sockets, an adapter to connect
sensors with a self-locking threaded joint, as well as a FIXCON
connector which enables a flying connection between the

Cordsets, single-ended, for actuators, sensors and distribution boxes
Lumberg Automation offers a continuous range of lines with molded connectors on one end for the wiring of your machines and plants. That range includes circular connectors with M5, M8, combined FIXCON/M12 and M23 threads as well as rugged and compact pressure switches and valve connectors (shapes A, B and C). All cables are characterised by a very high mechanical and chemical stability.

FIXCON: Simply plug and lock
The new generation of M12 connectors with their patented pushpull
lock can be plugged in and locked in one movement. The
installation time of a FIXCON connector is approx. 50% shorter
than screwable M12 connector assemblies, thus reducing
maintenance and costs. Safe:
FIXCON connector assemblies have been designed such that the
locking sleeve can only take the positions ”unlocked” and
”locked”.

The plug-in connectors can withstand a very high mechanical and
electrical load and are suitable for pressures up to 10 bar. A special
polyurethane is overmolded meaning that moisture cannot
penetrate the plug-in connectors, even when there are changes
in temperature.
Typical applications are thus in tough environments such as in
mines, in vehicles, in mechanical engineering and underwater.
Devices connected include pumps, motors, lights, valves
and sensors. In modern Fieldbus systems these products
are used to transmit power and signals.

Wire up easily and reliably with ready made connection cables
These cordsets for actuators/sensors have prewired connectors on
both ends. The connectors with a permanently overmolded cable
are used as a link between sensors/actuators and a sensor/actuator
distributor or a Fieldbus module.

Valve connectors
These robust, compact connectors rated IP 67 can be used wherever
magnetic valves, pressure sensors, flow monitors etc. are to
be connected. To avoid faults right at the source, these connectors
contain a quick reacting varistor or a suppressor diode as
protection and a functional display for swift diagnosis of faults.

Field attachable connectors
Field attachable connectors permit high flexibility for wiring in the field. They are available in the following designs: M8, M12, M23, 7/8" and Sub-D. When wiring machines and systems, field attachable connectors
are often used which can be wired on site. Normally these connectors
are fitted to special cables with open ends. If it is difficult
to design or plan wiring due to changing conditions, then
using connecting cables with overmolded connectors together
with connectors, which can be wired up on site offer the user
high flexibility and reliable planning. As required, cables of various
lengths can be customized to meet local needs.

Field attachable connectors
For each application, Lumberg Automation offers a wide range
of M8, M12, M23, 7/8" and SUBD field attachable connectors
with screw terminals, solder pins or spring-loaded terminals in
straight and angled versions. All IP 67 field attachable connectors
offer particularly good protection from dirt and moisture

M12 connectors with spring-type terminals
With the RSCQ/RKCQ and RSCQS/RKCQS field attachable connectors,
each wire can be simply attached without any tools. The
connections are made using spring-type terminals so that conductors
with a cross-section of 0.14–0.50 mm˛ can be quickly and easily
installed without ferrules on the wire ends.

Shielded connectors
For applications where EMC is critical, the use of shielded field
attachable connectors and cables is advisable. Both the susceptibility
of field attachable connectors and cables to external radiation
as well as emissions into the environment are effectively prevented
by shielded connectors. Shielded connectors and cables
are particularly necessary for the transmission of sensitive signals
as well as for the transmission of high-speed data.

Duo field attachable connectors
With the RSC/RKC...Duo field attachable connectors, two connection
cables for actuators or sensors can be attached. This
means that two cables are joined at one connector. The use of
this field attachable connector is particularly useful when space is
at a premium but a large number of I/O points is required.
RSCN...DUO: with hexagonal stainless steel fixings is
particularly well suited for use in machines used in
the food industry.

Design plug-in equipment with Lumberg
Automation receptacle connectors.
For the construction of equipment, sensors and actuators, various
receptacle connectors and connector inserts are available.
Lumberg Automation offers the receptacle connectors to be used
as feed-through connectors in bulkheads using M5, M8, M12 and
7/8" threads. Receptacle connectors for sensors are available in
sizes M8 and M12.

The connectors can be easily and reliably installed by screwing
them either in front of or behind a bulkhead in the desired housing.
