Memory-Motor
VEM offers for motors in shaft heights 315 and 355 mm, to fit them with RFID Transponders as an Memory-Motor. In the memory chips of thes transponders (TAGs), not only nameplate data, but also additional technical data for built-on components, selected spare parts and maintenance data, and, if requested, customer or user data are stored. Moreover, there is the possibility to actively record a maintenance history.

Plant construction

Mechanical engineering
Increasing mechanisation has resulted in the more frequent use of electric drives. Especially in the field of mechanical engineering, the motors used are adapted to suit the design of the plant and machinery. VEM supplies a wide range of specialist motors, from built-in motors to brake motors and energy-saving motors.

Our highly-skilled and motivated workforce, combined with our many years' experience in developing and building electrical machines for mechanical engineering, are your guarantee for a reliable, cost-effective product. It also means we can supply custom drives designed for specific applications.
Chemicals, oil and gas
VEM manufacturing sites are located in close proximity to some of Germany’s major chemical plants, with the result that the chemical and petrochemical industries have long been important markets for VEM drives. Because they are used in hazardous environments, special requirements apply to drives for compressors, blowers, pumps and extruders. Using frequency converters to regulate speed is consequently of ever-greater importance.
 
Steelworks and rolling mills
VEM supplies drives to the steel and non-ferrous metal industry for rolling stands, shears and coilers which comply with the highest standards, such as those contained in the SEB (Stahl-Eisen-Betriebsblatt) guidelines for rolling mill motors of the Verein Deutscher Eisenhüttenleute VDEh.
Energy and environmental engineering
If energy and environmental engineering is to live up to its name, it requires the use of environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient electrical machines. We have considerable expertise in manufacturing motors. Our companies have from the outset produced drives for pumps and fans, and continue to do so.
Wind power plants
VEM generators for wind power plants are constructed as double-fed asynchronous generators whose stator winding is connected directly to the grid. The rotor is connected to the same grid via a converter. This combination makes operation possible at variable speeds and outputs yet constant stator voltage and frequency.
 
Shipbuilding
VEM delivers its products to renowned system providers with years of experience in outfittings ships. The providers size the electric drive technology and automation solutions for entire ships, working together with the best shipyards in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
