NASSCO has been designing and building ships since 1960, specializing in auxiliary and support ships for the U.S. Navy and oil tankers and dry cargo carriers for commercial markets. Located in San Diego, California, NASSCO employs more than 3,000 people and is the only major ship construction yard on the West Coast of the United States. NASSCO is one of three shipyards in the Marine Systems group of General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD). With $12 billion in annual sales, GD has leading market positions in shipbuilding and marine systems, land and amphibious combat systems, information systems, and business aviation. Along with GD's Electric Boat and Bath Iron Works subsidiaries, NASSCO is participating in the Marine System group's modernization of the Navy's fleet of attack submarines, surface combatants, amphibious assault ships and auxiliaries.
