  • elcom’s modular transfer systems are simple and reliable tools for implementing your automation tasks and the flow of material in your production environment.       • TLM 1000 WORKPIECE CARRIERS

      • The TLM 1000 transfer system is particularly suitable in a standard system for loads with total weight up to 2 kg per pallet (workpiece carrier + product holder + product). The maximum traction in accumulation mode is 50 kg or 25 kg, depending on the configuration (with reference to a transfer unit length of 3 m).

        The production line design illustrated makes clear how several customer requirements can be met by using different standard elements

          • Workpiece carriers

          • The workpiece carriers allow the mounting of holders which ensure an accurate positioning of the assembly during the process. The workpiece carriers consists of two plates. The upper aluminium plate allows the fastening of workpieces, ensures the geometrical behaviour workpiece carrier as well as the positioning accuracy. Machining (drillings and tappings) can be made according to the customer‘s wish.

            Stainless steel bushes located in the aluminium plate guarantee resistance to wear and a perfect accuracy. The PA base has an extremely low friction coefficent and lays on the conveying belts. This base hosts 4 guiding pins (specific to elcom) and has the necessary shape to ensure stoppers proper functioning. Metallic bars are located on each side of the workpiece carrier in order to detect them at several workstations.

            Variable length of elcom‘s workpiece carriers and specific workpiece carriers

            Standard workpiece carriers are available to install the workpieces that will be conveyed. In many cases, the surface area of workpiece carrier is not sufficient. Specific workpiece carriers can be supplied. The use of 4 guiding pins makes it possible to vary the length of workpiece carrier and to optimize cycle times. The guiding pins remain in the position of the nearest standard workpiece carrier. So, all the standard elements such as cams are usable without modification.
          • Stopper

          • The stoppers are used to stop or isolate the workpiece carriers. For the TLM 1000 systems, single or double effect stoppers are available; lateral guides and sensor brackets to detect workpiece carriers are included in the delivery. The anti bouncing back device is integrated into the lateral guides.
          • Positioning unit

          • In order to carry out controlled processing on a production line, it must be possible to pick the workpieces on the workpiece carriers from the correct position. For this purpose, the workpiece carrier is held in place by the stopper integrated into the positioning unit until the complete workpiece carrier is lifted out into the C rails by a pneumatic cylinder and there is no further contact with the transport medium.

            Positioning unit – width 100

            The positioning unit is directly fitted on the conveying units. 3 possibilities: automatic stopper, simple effect stopper and double effect stopper. Depending on the application, it is possible to choose the type of required control.
          • Cams

          • The cams (types ED, EG, SD and SG) enable to change the direction of the workpiece carriers between two transfer units at a 90° angle. The workpiece carriers are driven by two inner pins while the two outer pins are retracted.

            Cams ED, EG, SD, SG allow a perpendicular transfer of wokpiece carriers from one conveying unit to the other without automatism.
            The principle is the same for conveying units with flat belts and timing belts. It’s not possible as standard features, to set a cam between two different units.
            • The workpiece carrier is guided by the two inner pins, the outside pins are retracted.
            • They are also used for derivations.
            • Do not accumulate the workpiece carriers in the cams.
            • For a good operating, the workpiece carrier which is coming in the cam mustn’t be pushed by other workpiece carriers.
            • Do not accumulate the workpiece carriers in the cams.
          • Derivation

          • The derivation is used with a cam in order to give the workpiece carrier a specified direction by retracting its pins. The two cylinders are controlled by only one solenoid-valve.
          • Return 180 °

          • STANDARD RETURN 180 °

            The 180° direction allows the return of workpiece carriers in very confined spaces, e.g. in small circuits or cycle time independent workstations.

            Return 180° - width 100
            • Allows the return of the workpiece carrier on a parallel conveyor with a reduced space between the two conveyors.
            • The workpiece carrier is conveyed always keeping the same side towards the outside of the line.
            • For square workpiece carriers only.
            • 2 parallel belts driven by a bevel gear pair on a conveyor unit


            Return 180° - width 100 lenght 150
            • Allows the return of the workpiece carrier on a parallel conveyor with a reduced space between the two conveyors.
            • The workpiece carrier is conveyed always keeping the same side towards the outside of the line.
            • For rectangular workpiece carriers 100×150 only.
            • 2 parallel belts driven by a bevel gear pair on a conveyor unit
          • 90° Swivelling

          • When the “M” type workpiece carriers are used, the 90° rotation device allows to rotate the workpiece carriers by 90° by latching and retracting the pins. For 180° or 270° rotations, it is possible to arrange two or three 90° rotation devices one after another. The clip shows a rotation device with built-in damper which is available optionally.
          • Heavy positioning unit

          • For precision work with a max. vertical force of 1500 daN. The unit must be positioned on a support frame that can withstand the loads applied. 3 options: automatic stopper, simple effect stopper or double effect stopper.

            Use
            • Stopping and positioning workpiece carriers for operations requiring accuracy.
            • The workpiece carrier is stopped, then lifted off the belts and positioned by two centering pieces.



             
        • TLM 1500 WORKPIECE CARRIERS

        • The new TLM 1500 transfer system features a 150×150 mm width workpiece carrier and uses elcom’s patent with retractable pins, guides and derivation sets. This new system benefits from the advantages of our TLM 2000‘s range (workpiece carriers with dimensions from 200×200 to 400×400) with a straightforward management and a very affordable short cam derivation system. Workpiece carriers of a total weight of 4 kg can be conveyed thanks to a timing belt drive.

          Workpiece carriers are conveyed on two timing belts which leave necessary room for stoppers, positioning units.

          Retractable pins, located under the workpiece carrier, allow :

          • Guiding the workpiece carrier with 4 pins on straight sections,
          • Guiding the workpiece carrier round bends with 2 pins (the other being retracted).

            • Conveying unit timing belt

            • The Conveying unit timing belt moving and accumulating of workpiece carriers 150×150. The motor can be fitted either vertically or horizontally, on the right or the left side. The use of timing belts enables to increase the carried load and facilitates the maintenance when changing belts. Belt guides are pressed into aluminium profile housing.

              According to the load, longer spans can be joined end to end by straight joinings. The cuttings of conveyors allow division of the lengths, making transport and installation of the lines easier.
              The installation is facilitated thanks to the use of timing belts.
              Spacers have to be fitted between the profiles every 1 meter to ensure a perfect parallelism of the profiles.

              They stoppers stop workpiece carriers during processing requiring no accuracy. They are perfectly adapted for manual work stations. Management of workpiece carriers in order to respect conveying priorities at the end of the derivation.           • The TLM 2000 transfer system is particularly suitable in a standard system for loads with total weight up to 10 kg per pallet (workpiece carrier + product holder + product). The maximum traction in accumulation mode is 60–150 kg, depending on the configuration (with reference to a transfer unit’s length of 6 m).

            The production line design illustrated makes clear how different customer requirements can be met by using different standard elements:

              • Cams

              • RETURNS 180 °

              • The return 180° allows to turn workpieces around in very confined spaces, e.g. in small cycles or cycle time independent workstations.
              • Swivellings 90 °

              • Rotation of the workpiece carriers by 90° by latching and retracting the pins.
                To rotate by 180°, it is possible to arrange two 90° rotation devices one after another.
              • Short cams

              • The short cam and the crossings allow to divert the workpiece carriers from a main transport line to a secondary transport line without additional motorisation.
              • Bridge positioning units

              • A bridge positioning units is a special form of positioning unit in which shaped parts grip the corners of the workpiece carrier, and a cylinder located beneath the belt line lifts it out far enough that the next workpiece carrier can pass on the transfer line beneath the lifted workpiece carrier.
              • Lift positioning units

              • The lift positioning units allow to lock the workpiece carriers in place and position them at a great height above the conveyor belt. The workpiece carrier is stopped and then lifted to a particular height. It is held there by two positioning units. A pre-stopper should be provided for a lift positioning unit with a damped stopper. Two positioning pins move into the workpiece carrier and ensure precise orientation in the x and y directions.
              • Heavy positioning units

              • Medium-weight positioning units are especially suitable for precision work that requires applying a force (up to 1500 daN) to the middle of the workpiece carrier. The unit must be positioned on a support frame that can withstand the loads applied. A pre-stopper is provided with damped medium weight positioning units. A cam on the positioning units ensures that the workpiece carriers are repositioned when the positioning unit is raised.
            • TLM 5000 WORKPIECE CARRIERS

            • The modular conception of TLM 5000 allows large architectures of workpiece carriers. Multidirectional rollers ensure the rolling of workpiece carriers. They are integrated in PA angles which are fixed under the 4 angles of the workpiece carrier.
              PA blocks consist in:
              • 1 shock absorber to limit the shock between the workpiece carriers and to reduce the noise.
              • 1 multidirectional roller
              • 1 detection bar to ensure the control of workpiece carriers.

              The drive is ensured by angle blocks and by the central base (one, two or three depending the dimension of workpiece carrier). The central base allow a quick start of workpiece carriers in corners and the stop of workpiece carrier on stoppers. Two centering bushes ensure the position on positioning units. Various plates are usable according to the size and application:
              • Aluminium profile 40×40 or other
              • Aluminium plate, thickness: 8, 10, 12 or 16 mm
              • Steel plate
              • Beech multi-ply plate
              • Plastic plate
                • Positioning unit

                • Positioning units allow to stop and position the workpiece carriers at an assembly work station for the purpose of performing precision work. The workpiece carrier is first stopped by a damped stopper and then positioned with a pin locating system. No vertical movement of the workpiece carrier occurs. It is possible to add an anti bouncing back device.
                • Angles square

                • The angles square modules make it possible to change the direction of workpiece carriers by 90° around the angles of the transfer system. The angle is self-supporting and is supplied with 4 rigid feet and 2 inflatable unit set controlled with a pneumatic shock absorber. The shock absorber goes back into position during the transfer movement to hold the next workpiece carrier that arrives in a damped manner. Accumulation mode at the angle is not possible.
                • Angle rectangular

                • The corner transfer devices make it possible to change the direction of the workpiece carriers by 90° around the angles of the transfer system. The angle is self-supporting and is supplied with 4 rigid feet and 2 inflatable unit set and controlled with a pneumatic shock absorber. The shock absorber goes back into position during the transfer movement to hold the next workpiece carrier that arrives in a damped manner. For rectangular workpiece carriers, 2 units are used to prevent the workpiece carrier from tilting. Accumulation mode at the angle is not possible.
                • Stoppers

                • The stoppers ensure that the workpiece carriers can be stopped for the upcoming production processes.
                  The use of a positioning unit may be necessary depending on the precision requirements of the production process.
                  The manually controlled stopper does not require management. However, the workpiece carrier should not exceed a maximum weight of 30 kg. An anti bouncing back device is integrated into the stopper.
              • Motion

              • To round out the portfolio, elcom offers systems to transport workpiece carriers vertically. Depending on the application, the goods are either conveyed to another level or lifted individually with lift units (handling of workpiece carriers or load carriers).
                  • Lifting boxes

                  • The lifting boxes enables you to electronically Lifting boxes of components or assemblies to the height of the workstation or assembly lines.
                    It is an essential piece of equipment during stacking or unstacking of crates or plastic boxes.

                    Lifting boxes can also be used for ergonomic purposes at the exits of machines manufacturing mechanical components, by stacking the boxes in order to facilitate handling by operators.
                  • Lifts

                  • LIFTS: GENERAL PRINCIPLE

                    The elcom lifts allow you to change the level of the workpiece carriers (combined with the use of transfer systems).

                    • An upwards recycling allows the operators to stand inside the line (commonly used for Lean production lines).
                    • A downwards recycling enables space saving as workpiece carriers are recycled under the line.

                    Angle or inclined lifts recycle workpiece carriers downwards and therefore free up space under the main line as the lift is placed besides. This enables you to position bulky workstations under the transfer system to prevent operators from having the transfer return standing in their legs.

                    This considerably improves workstations ergonomics while reducing the risks of MSD linked to non-appropriate postures. The lifts can also be used to make changes of levels for packages, boxes and/or crates.
                  • Shuttles

                  • ELCOM SHUTTLES: GENERAL PRINCIPLE

                    The shuttles allow the delivery of components on several lines and can be used with conveyors and/or transfer systems.
                    Several parallel lines can be supplied by shuttles which significantly simplifies the management of the line.
                    It’s can be coupled to a lift in order to work on several levels.

                • Conveyors

                • Our range of conveyors technology offers flexible options for meeting your project requirements. Simple conveyor belts and roller conveyors are available for standard applications. Furthermore, we supply timing belt conveyors with customer-specific attachments, double belt conveyors or combinations of different types as needed. If you have yet to find the right solution for your requirements in our standard range, an experienced team is available to develop it together with you.
                    • Roller conveyors

                    • Besides belt conveyors, roller conveyors are standard conveyor technology. They are used frequently, especially for plastic containers or packages with heavy weights. As with all our standard modules, the support is based on item-profile. Therefore, it is easy to incorporate these modules into your production environment. Besides standard roller conveyors, curved roller conveyors are available. Furthermore, the systems can be designed as driven roller conveyors or gravity roller conveyors.
                        • Gravity roller conveyor

                        • elcom offers roller conveyors without a drive in the item profile standard. The outstanding aspect of this standard is the easy integration of lateral guides onto the sidewalls of the support.
                        • Driven roller conveyor

                        • elcom offers driven roller conveyors in the item profile standard. In the standard, torque transfer is implemented with a shaft and round belt.
                        • Curved roller conveyor

                        • elcom provides a standard for curved segments. They link straight conveyor lines. Segments with 90° curves are available standard.
                      • Flat belt conveyors

                      • Our standard flat belt conveyors are a classic in a majority of conveyor technology applications. Individual workpieces and packaging units, and in many cases also bulk goods, are transported via a conveyor belt stretched over a frame using pulleys. We cover standard segment belt widths from 20 to 1000 mm and axle distances from 300 to 6000 mm.

                        With elcom , the belt conveyors are divided into 4 classes according to the diameter of the pulleys on the belt heads; these are the elcom 20, 40, 80 and 90 series belt conveyors. All systems use flat belts as the conveyor belts; the belt type is adapted to your requirements.

                        • Conveyor with modular belt are a middle ground between belt conveyors and chain conveyors. A modular belt consists of individual plastic modules usually linked together with joint rods. This modular belt is driven by chain sprockets; the base frame of the conveyor is constructed from standard profile supports.

                          The modular belt makes it possible to accept hot workpieces or workpieces with sharp edges. Furthermore, large conveyor widths can be implemented without high pre-tensioning of the belts. However, in contrast to chain conveyors, this design is less maintenance-intensive and is a technically simpler solution. These systems are frequently used as cooling lines, since the chain modules can be designed to be permeable to air.

                          • Timing Belt Conveyor are mostly used for heavier workpiece weights or stricter requirements on precision. In addition, they are frequently used in multi-track conveyors that place strict requirements on the synchronicity of the conveyor strands. In contrast to belt conveyors, workpiece-specific attachments can be added very easily. A common use is for supplying workpiece carriers to robot cells or gantry loaders.

                            • Level differences are often bridged with Z and L conveyors, for instance in the plastic injection moulding machines sector.                               • This conveyor belt is suitable for workpiece carriers or boxes with flat bottoms. The line can be motor-driven or operated by hand. Load transfer of the weight of the product is implemented via ball bearings mounted on the aluminium profiles. The profiles simultaneously serve to guide the workpiece carriers or boxes. These are moved forwards by a continuously-running conveyor belt whose pressure against the bottom of the workpiece carrier is controlled pneumatically. The pressure of the conveyor belt moves the workpiece carrier(s), which can also easily be run in accumulation mode using stoppers. Indexing units are also possible.
