DINOSPIN is a Gantry type mobile crosshead machine, suitable for high speed machining. A safety enclosure encloses the work area on all four sides and the workpiece is loaded through large front sliding doors. The system can be completed with a mobile upper protection system with automatic opening by means of electric servo-control. STINGER

DYNAMIC PROFITABILITY
Thanks to its dynamic performance and versatility,
STINGER can be used in the working of moulds and dies in both the pattern and mechanical parts and in aeronautical working. The machine is conceived with one rotation axis on the head with universal geometry and one on the rotary table. This original solution provides an extraordinarily large useful work field in comparison with the travel of the axes. The head is drawn on the patented solution already applied on Dino machines that permits undercut working and has a negative “pivot” allowing the use of the vertical ram travel at best.
The longitudinal axis travel permits to space out the table rotation axis from the ram axis, consequently allowing machining with long tools on the lateral faces of the piece. The rotation of both the table and the head is continuous and obtained using Direct Drive motors that ensure high rotation and positioning speed. The absence of mechanical rotation elements reduces the need for maintenance and grants high reliability and accuracy as well. The rotary axes can be used as continuous positioning axes or as interpolated axes for 5-axis working.
The optional equipment available includes tool changing, electro-spindle changing, workpiece measurement probes, tool control devices, cooling systems, exhausting unit and chip discharging. Furthemore, the special configuration permits an ideal ergonomics of the operator position, that can be placed on both sides, easy and safe piece loading/unloading, and an exceptional visibility of all the work being performed.

FPT Industrie presents its vertical spindle milling machine,
Raid XL.
Raid XL sets among the medium/small size milling machines but its technical specifications are those of a great size machine. Raid XL expresses compactness, speed, accuracy, ergonomics. These are the key words that characterize this product. An incredible quality-price ratio makes it attractive to all companies: from the large ones who require high performance, to the small ones because it is an affordable investment. Raid XL is a milling machine / machining centre for three-dimensional surface machining and/or generally for 3-axis high dynamic mechanical machining. The structure of Raid XL is based on previously experimented solutions tested by FEM: portal with moving table, fixed crossbeam and saddle in the upper part of the crossbeam to assure compactness, low tilting torque and moderate height. An high-frequency electrospindle with vector control is placed in the ram. The chain type tool changer with 30 or 54 pockets is placed in the left shoulder, its position allows an easy accessibility and a quick tool replacement without interfering with the work range. Particular solutions for better working conditions: the table positioned at only 650mm from the floor completely goes out from the overall ram dimensions assuring easy loading and unloading; the control panel can be positioned either on the right or the left side and allows always an excellent visibility of the workpiece without moving away from the control station.

DINOMAX is a moving bridge Gantry-style machine suitable for heavy duty machining as well as high-speed cutting. The optimization of the structures, through use of the most advanced FEM analysis, and the use of drive systems of the most recent generation as well as linear motors, combine the need for high productivity with flexibility and accuracy, setting a new standard in the machine tool field. A specific configuration package allows the use of DINOMAX for complex medium-large sized gear machining, whose accuracy and finishing are typical of teeth grinding machines. A 4-sided safety enclosure surrounds the machining area and the part can be loaded through wide sliding doors at the front. The system can be completed with a movable protection roof with automatic opening, actuated by electric servomotors. The automatic head change is possible on both systems and and guarantees the maximum flexibility without compromises, obtaining the best performances for both roughing and finishing operations. PROTECTED SPECIES
DINO is a high-speed vertical machining centre with fixed portal and moving table, ideally suited for complex machining even with 5 continuous axes. The optimization of the structures, through the use of the most advanced FEM analysis, and the use of drive systems of the most recent generation combine the need for high productivity with flexibility and accuracy, setting a new standard in the machine tool field. DINO structures are completely manufactured with stabilized cast iron. A prestigious choice that qualifies the product and magnifies the performances in terms of rigidity and damping capacity. The configuration with fixed portal and the 180° swivel CNC panel, allows the operator a perfect control over machining and tools from either side of the machine. The operator always remains in the ideal ergonomic position during the entire machining process. The axis movement is through linear guideways with preloaded roller pads. The drive system utilizes hardened and ground ballscrews with preloaded double-nut. On the longitudinal and cross axes the screw is fixed and the double-nut rotates to minimize the inertia of the moving masses. The unique “FTA system” allows automatic change of milling attachments and guarantees the maximum flexibility without compromises, obtaining the best performances for both roughing and finishing operations.

The column structure, which integrates the longitudinal saddle, makes it possible to obtain a machine consisting of only 2 structures for the moving on the X axis instead of the traditional 3 structures: column- saddle-machine base. The result is a more compact, rigid and performance machine. This feature along with its LOWERED TRIM MORPHOLOGY (International patent) will enable RAPTOCUT to exploit completely the available power, while maintaining the dynamic characteristics much above the average and assuring unique machining accuracy.
KENTA

KENTA is the boring-milling machine with the biggest monobloc column with integrated saddle creating a monolithic structure of special cast iron, patent of FPT Industrie SpA. All the structures of the machine are made of special cast iron!
The utmost stiffness and accuracy of vertical and cross axes are ensured by 4 guideways and 8 sliding blocks.
KENTA is equipped with a special motor spindle designed and developed by FPT engineers, which replaces the traditional gearbox transmission. The machine has extraordinary performance: FPT motor spindle delivers an exploitable power of 74 kW (S1) with a torque of 1910 Nm (S1), maximum revolution speed of 5.000 rpm. Furthermore, performances have been considerably improved in terms of positioning accuracy, lack of overheating, reduction of noise levels and maintenance operations

ABSOLUTE PERFORMANCE
TESSEN is the travelling column type milling machine entrusted with the important task of reviving the success obtained throughout the world by the moving table milling machine mod. LEM. In line with the last production of innovative travelling column type milling machines such as Ronin and Verus, also TESSEN develops the concept of fixed table and moving column machine with some very important special characters. TESSEN is equipped with a big bed integrating the longitudinal sliding guideways of the column with the floorplate; the whole generously dimensioned. Furthermore, the guideways of the longitudinal movement of the bed are placed on an inclined plane at a minimum distance from the floorplate allowing the exploitation of all the daylight both vertically and horizontally. In this way the maximum reaction to the machining thrust and the utmost stiffness are granted. The column, of big dimensions and built in a double symmetrical monolithic structure, houses in the centre the space for the sliding of the vertical ram saddle. The column moves directly on the machine bed without other sliding devices. This solution grants the utmost stiffness, sensitivity and accuracy in any situation.

In the field of boring machines, FPT CASTEL undoubtedly represented the reference point on an International scale for the innovation in the last few years both under the design concept and under the structural profile.
Once again these elements made of this machine another extraordinary object of FPT company, having no equals in the market of its category.
CASTEL has been conceived from the beginning according to revolutionary criteria and design. It is characterized by a unique column structure integrating the longitudinal sliding saddle.
Furthermore the headstock slides in the middle of the column and is guided on both parts. This expensive choice, from the manufacturing point of view, conveys first rate outcome.

The range of big-sized vertical lathes VERTIGO represents the new reference point of the sector.
FPT decade-long planning and technological experience in manufacturing big-sized hydrostatic borig machines , finds a new implementation in the turning, milling and grinding technology of big mechanical components.
The result is a new family of machines offering solutions available for the first time on the market:
- Full hydrostatic movement of all axes (included the vertical movement of the beam W) with “active” oil cooling system;
- Clever hydrostatic thrust-bearing “tilter” for the table bearing and rotation with automatic unbalancing control of the loads to be machined, with adjustment data self-learning (Patent Int. Pend.);
- “Load control” device allowing constant maintenance of the geometry and stiffness of the table according to the loading condition changes, by means of a hydrostatic system with “active” preload (Patent Int. Pend.);
- Turning spindle movement transmission device with hybrid gearbox (planetary+parallel) and high torque and liquid-cooled built-in motor;
- Dual Drive type, dedicated high stiff transmission system of C axis with complete backlash compensation and with very high bidirectional dynamics (deriving from the big-sized table of FPT boring machines);
- Direct Drive kinematic system of the milling spindle. This solution manufactured for years by FPT for its boring machines, provides an in-axis power transmission to the spindle, without mechanical gear systems, through high torque liquid-cooled built-in motor. The advantages are certain in terms of stiffness and kinematic efficiency, with cancellation of wear and heating of the mechanical parts and subsequent optimization of milling accuracy;
- X axis movement (saddle-ram movement) with double pinion, rack and Dual –Drive management. It allows an improvement of the stiffness and accuracy performances achieving results that cannot be compared with the traditional screw transmission;
- Active compensation of the machine geometry able to maintain the constant trim of the structures in all positions of the moving masses in the working field.

EXTRACAL - Scientific Instruments by FPT Research Department.
At the end of the installation of each machine, it is issued a testing certificate attesting the geometrical accuracy of the machine according to ISO3070 and ISO10791 norms and the axis accuracy according to VDI/DGQ3441 norm.
The machine starts to work but, as the time goes by, the initial geometrical accuracy can be jeopardized by several reasons, among which: ground setting or foundation settlement, possible incorrect use of the machine leading to collisions, wear-out of some components, earthquake. If a geometrical control becomes necessary, it is required the intervention of specialized engineers equipped with sophisticated fixtures; this involves costs for the intervention and for loss of production. Consequently, by virtue of the costs to be suffered, an intervention aimed at a checking of the machine needs to be weighed unless a programmed maintenance is scheduled, which in any case doesn’t grant the accuracy of the machine between one check and another, without considering the relevant costs. The uncertainty about the geometrical quality of the machine during its operations can be quickly verified at any time by the user through the EXTRACAL system without handling the workpiece.
