Product Portfolio
  • Inductive Telemetry

  • Our modular product program of sensor signal amplifiers and antenna systems can be optimally integrated into the existing measuring environment. Even under extremely confined conditions, we are able to realise non-contact signal transmission solutions for mobile or long-term applications. We can produce for shaft diameters from 1 to 4,000 millimetres.

With our system the measuring signal is transmitted by means of induction. In the standard model the transmission path is composed of two solid wire loops (stator and rotor, each one winding). The loops can also be constructed as separable solid rings. In addition to the standard model, the stator ring can also be supplied in the form of a compact antenna. In a special model, the rotor ring is integrated as a compact element in the sensor signal amplifier. The distance between the receiving antennas and the evaluation unit can be up to 200 m. As standard, a simple coaxial cable can be used as connection cable.
      • 1-Channel Systems

      • MANNER Sensortelemetrie has been developed with a focus on praxis-oriented applications and is therefore especially simple to operate. Using a non-contact induction procedure, the non-contact capture of amplified measuring signals from moving objects, especially shafts, is possible. During this procedure, a stator antenna captures the measured data from an antenna on the rotating component under measurement, without the need for any physical contact. Consequently, unbiased measuring results can be guaranteed. In the opposite direction, the measuring electronics on the moving component are supplied with energy via inductive coupling.

Thanks to the use of highly integrated microelectronics and the especially short set-up times due to simple and sophisticated mounting technology, these measuring systems are predestined for professional industrial applications. The systems have a thermal operating range of -55° to 180° Celsius. Their robust construction is suitable for extreme environmental conditions, such as use in oil or with accelerations of up to 100,000 g.

The powerful sensor telemetry system from MANNER facilitates the economical and precise monitoring or measurement of static and dynamic parameters such as:
        • Torque
        • Pressure and tractive force
        • Bending moment
        • Acceleration
        • Temperature
        • Revolution speed
      • Multi-Channel Systems

      • The multi-channel sensor telemetry system from MANNER is a consistent development of the single-channel sensor telemetry product program. Here too the non-contact transmission procedure is used to couple the stationary components (stator antenna and evaluation unit) to the rotating, i.e. moving measuring object (including sensor and sensor signal amplifier).

The deployment of our multi-channel systems enables you to carry out the non-contact simultaneous transmission of all measuring signals from a series of measuring points. Energy is also supplied simultaneously to all channels. The systems have a thermal operating range of -55° to 180° Celsius. Their robust construction is suitable for extreme environmental conditions, such as use in oil or with accelerations of up to 100,000 g.

Depending on the type and dimensions of the application, we can capture data from up to 400 channels with just one single measuring system. The powerful sensor telemetry system from MANNER enables you to have an economical and precise monitoring or measurement of static and dynamic parameters such as:
        • Torque
        • Pressure and tractive force
        • Bending moment
        • Acceleration
        • Temperature
        • Revolution speed
      • Series Manufacturing

      • Do you require large lots of sensor telemetry systems, tailored to your individual production, manufacturing or measuring process? With larger volumes, MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH is happy to go into serial production for you. We let you share in the cost advantages and guarantee consistently high quality.

Contact us regarding MANNER’s tried and tested serial production. We already produce various lot sizes on this basis for international partner companies.
      • Sensor Signal Amplifier

      • The MANNER sensor signal amplifier captures the measuring signal from the rotating sensors. In addition to DMS sensors, other sensors such as thermocouple elements, PT 100, Hall, piezo and Micro-Epsilon sensors and potentiometers can be connected. The evaluation unit supplies a high frequency signal from which the energy for the sensor signal amplifier is generated. This in turn generates the power supply for the connected sensor. The bridge supply voltage generated is short-circuit proof and highly stabile. An integrated voltage monitor guarantees fault-free operation.

In addition, the function of a DMS bridge and the entire measuring chain can be checked via the optional remote shunt calibration function. During commissioning and maintenance, it is thus possible to check the calibration of the entire system with an off-load measuring chain.

The setting of the zero point and the measuring sensitivity of the sensor signal amplifier is either fixed using resistors soldered into place, or programmed from a computer using the RMC technology.
      • RMC Technology

      • With the deployment of our RMC technology (remote control), we equip the measuring electronics (rotor electronics) with a micro-controller that controls and monitors the digital transmission of the measured data and control code between the evaluation unit and the sensor signal amplifier. An interface enables the simple connection between a computer or a higher order computer system. The measuring system can now be completely controlled via the specially developed software from MANNER. The measuring range and zero point (auto zero) can thus be continuously adjusted and corrected via computer. The program interface from Manner also provides a graphic view of the measured data sequences.

As a result, rotating measurement points can be freely programmed via inductive coupling. With the assistance of MANNER telemetry software the measuring equipment controller can now be adjusted without any physical contact.
    • Torque Measuring Technology

        • Torque Measuring Flanges

        • Torque measuring flanges from MANNER can be employed for the measurement of both static and dynamic torques on rotating or stationary shafts and machine flanges. Using the torque and rotation speed parameters, the power flow along a shaft can be directly calculated. In the age of automation and the demand for ever better efficiency, these two parameters are becoming increasingly important.

MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH has developed special compact torque flanges for the fulfilment of these tasks. All Manner torque measuring systems feature non-contact torque signal transmission according to the patented sensor telemetry procedure. They operate without the need for bearings and therefore can be mounted without the need for an additional bearing bracket or articulated shafts. This avoids costs and allows for extremely compact test stands.
        • The MANNER Standard Measuring Flanges

        • In addition to custom made products and client-specific series production, MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH also provides a diverse range of torque flanges from its standard portfolio.
        • Customer-specific Flanges

        • MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH’s engineering team fashions custom made torque flanges with or without integrated rotation speed measurement according to specific customer wishes.

Our competent engineering team would be happy to provide you with a proposal for an optimal solution to your measuring task in the form of individual custom made measuring sensors or individual series production.
        • High Speed Torque Measurement

        • MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH provides systems specially designed to meet the demands of high speed measurements. Specially manufactured products with high rotation speed and acceleration resistances ensure that you can also reap the benefits of MANNER sensor telemetry in the turbo charger field. This enables precise sensor signals to be captured with speeds of up to 200,000 revolutions per minute and transmitted using non-contact inductive coupling.
        • Automobile Torque Sensors

        • MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH manufactures high precision torque sensors for measuring applications in the automobile branch. These include belt pulleys, flexplates, articulated and side shafts as well as articulated shaft flanges. Material and design are optimised for the respective measurements and guarantee precise measured data.
      • Radio Telemetry

      • Radio telemetry is the ideal complement to classical inductive sensor telemetry and is deployed when the measured data needs to be transmitted over larger distances, in the event of a difficult measuring set-up, or if only a short-term system installation is required.

MANNER radio telemetry is successfully employed in:
        • Shock absorber temperature measurement
        • Rotary furnace temperature measurement
        • Wheel radio transmitters (automobile applications)
        • Measuring shafts and measuring flanges in mobile operation
        • Further measuring applications which should/must operate without permanently installed transmission systems
        • Test stand monitoring
          • Product Description

          • MANNER radio telemetry was designed for working in extremely difficult measuring environments (degree of protection IP 65). In addition to the radio cell, the system consists of a miniaturised sensor signal amplifier. This is directly connected to the DMS bridges, thermocouple elements and/or PT100 sensors. The sensor signals are amplified, passed through an antialiasing filter and digitised.

The signal resolution can be either 12 or 16 bit (option). The digital data is coded and secured using a special check sum code (CRC). This code guarantees completely interference free data transmission even under difficult conditions. The data is subsequently impressed onto the RF carrier using modulation. The radio system enables wireless transmission up to a range of 50 m in an unobstructed environment.

MANNER supplies radio systems in single or multi-channel versions (up to 32 channels). Each channel is equipped with its own power supply as well as separate settings for amplification and digital conversion. Thanks to digitisation there is no crosstalk between the channels. Even in the event of a sensor short circuiting the remaining measuring channels remain unaffected.

Amplification and zero point (autozero) can be continuously programmed via a PC. Strong batteries or long life accumulators in the radio transmitter enable uninterrupted operation.
          • Inductive Charger Cap

          • With MANNER’s specially designed charger cap, accumulators in radio telemetry systems (e.g. in automobile wheel transmitters) can be quickly and simply charged without having to open the electronics casing.

The cap can be either powered by the vehicle power supply (12V) or a mains adapter. A charger circuit controls the accumulator charge, preventing overloading by automatically switching off at full capacity (ideal for overnight use).

Simply place the plastic housing on the sensor electronics in order to recharge the long life accumulators via induction.
          • Antenna Diversity

          • MANNER Sensortelemetrie GmbH also supplies optional radio sensor telemetry systems with antenna diversity. With these systems transmission and data reliability are significantly improved through the positioning of two receiving antennas.

The deployment of two receiving antennas is particularly expedient when there is no constant line of sight between the transmitting and receiving antennas (e.g. with rotating shafts). Radio interference as a result of reflection from closely situated metal elements (e.g. in a ship) can also be compensated for using this technology.

At any given time, a specially developed diversity combiner selects an interference-free receiver signal. This prevents data loss as a result of shadowing or interference.
        • Ex-Systems (ATEX)

              • Implementation in Ex-Zones

              • MANNER Sensortelemetrie offers measuring systems with ATEX aproval for contact-free measurement inside of explosive atmosphere (gases and dusts).

The evaluation is situated outside of the area exposed to explosion hazards and is connected with the PickUp stator antenna by a heat-resistant coaxial cable.
The stator antenna is situated inside of the explosive atmosphere.

The sensor signal amplifier and the passive sensors on the rotating parts are supplied by the stator antenna. In return the measuring data are relayed to the evaluation unit. An installion inside of the Ex area is possible on a Standard Measuring Flange from MANNER as well as on a customer provided shaft, flange, and so on.

The powerful sensor telemetry system from MANNER facilitates the economical and precise monitoring or measurement of static and dynamic parameters such as:
                • Torque
                • Pressure and tractive force
                • Bending moment
                • Acceleration
                • Temperature

                      • Rotor Temperature Monitoring

                      • Measuring the temperature of the rotor, i.e. its windings, plays a decisive role in the safe operation of large scale electric motors and generators. During the transformation of kinetic energy in to electric energy, or the reverse, it is essential to avoid thermal overloads and their disastrous consequences. Furthermore, from an economic perspective, it is desirable to increase replacement and maintenance intervals, i.e. to adjust them to the specific load situation.

With the help of Manner Sensortelemetrie the measurement of rotor temperatures is child’s play. In order to prevent the transgression of permitted rotor and winding temperatures, we have been working with the manufacturers and operators of electric motors and generators for many years, optimising the monitoring of thermal loads. Furthermore, this enables you to adjust the maintenance of your rotor configuration to the real demands and automate monitoring procedures.
                      • Load Limitting

Other components of the ship’s drive train, such as gear shafts, are increasingly being fitted with measuring systems from Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH in order to optimise the effectiveness and efficiency of this cost intensive equipment.
                          • Piston Temperature Measurement

                          • Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH’s piston telemetry has advanced to become an important tool for the development of pistons, for proof of their stability as well as the optimisation of the lubrication process. The system enables the online, multi-channel measurement of temperatures values at important points in the piston. Exact temperature distribution data under different load scenarios can be obtained, thus enabling important conclusions to be drawn for the optimal design of the piston or its operational stability.

The systems operate with robust thermocouple elements which effortlessly withstand the increasing vibration levels and are simple to mount. The temperature resistant electronics scans the measurement points with each piston stroke, transmitting the measured values to a stationary evaluation unit on a non-contact basis and without need of batteries.
                          • Piston Load

                          • In addition to thermal influences, it is the mechanical demands that lead to increasing stresses and strains on the piston. The operating pressure acts on the surface of the piston and is distributed over the entire component. Two-stroke pistons must also open and close the input, output and transfer ports, in other words, they are responsible for controlling the gas exchange cycle. This brings with it, alongside the thermal effect, an additional mechanical load.

Over the years, Manner has optimised its sensor telemetry for this measurement task, thus enabling a precise analysis of the mechanical load within the piston, with the distribution of the forces on the individual regions of the piston at the forefront. The tried and tested benefits of Manner sensor telemetry also apply here:
                            • Precise measurement of the effects of pressure and tractive force
                            • High precision measured data thanks to precision sensor technology
                            • Maximum data integrity via 16 bit coding and checksum code
                            • Non-contact transmission of measured data
                            • Simple to mount thanks to compact construction
                            • No maintenance requirements
                          • Dynamic Load Analysis / Ship Con Rods

                          • The continual optimisation of the dynamic load analysis of con rods is of special interest to our customers in the large scale motor sector. No wonder, when one considers the magnitude of the extreme tension/compression alternating loads the con rod is subjected to at these dimensions. The mass, dimensions, inherent stability, con rod bolts, hardening and tempering of the steel/alloy and the dimensioning of individual points along the con rod are of decisive importance.

For many years, Manner has been providing customers with professional support for the measurement of forces at all points on the con rod. Through the continual development of con rod telemetry, the measurement of a wide range of partial loads is constantly optimised. The most important aspects include:
                            • Gas force load
                            • Pressure/tension in the shaft as well as the transition from shaft to crank eye
                            • Buckling security of the con rod shaft
                            • The oval deformation of the con rod small end and con-rod eye
                            • Separation of the con rod small end dividing joint
                            • Lateral forces in the dividing joint
                            • Bending load
                          • Con Rod Bearing Temperature

                          • The bearings at the con rod small end or con rod eye are subject to extreme stresses and strains, especially in the case of large scale motors. Combustion pressures and operating loads afflict the slide bearings in the form of pressure and friction. The con rod bearings play a decisive role in the reduction of these loads, which is why an adequate temperature measurement is often needed.

Due to the extremely high forces which the con-rod eye is subjected to, temperature measurements within the bearing are expedient for a number of reasons, and frequently indispensable. Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH offers you non-contact measured data transmission solutions providing optimal support for the following tasks:
                            • Temperature monitoring of the bearing under different load scenarios
                            • Evaluation of thermal load limits
                            • Optimisation of materials
                            • Optimisation of coating materials and coating processes
                            • Optimisation of lubricants and lubrication processes
                          • Valve Temperature

                          • Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH supports partners worldwide in the online measurement of single or multi-channel motor valve temperatures under operating conditions. We are in constant contact with the corresponding competence teams, especially for large scale motors as employed in the shipping industry. Our systems operate with robust thermocouple elements which effortlessly withstand the high acceleration levels and are simple to mount.

The sensor telemetry amplifiers from Manner are integrated into the valve plate where they process the data from the desired temperature measurement points. A stator antenna can be mounted at a generous distance where it captures the measured values using non-contact technology and transmits them to a stationary evaluation unit. It is of no consequence whether the valves rotate during operation. The 16 bit digital coding guarantees high data integrity. Characteristic for this product is that no continual signal contact between the two antennas is required.

                        • Helicopter and Aircraft

                            • Turbine

                            • Aircraft gas turbine engines in a diverse range of construction types form an aeroplane’s main drive and fulfil a wide range of functions. With a variety of construction types, they require suitable measuring technology in order to do justice to the central significance of the turbine components.

The efficiency of the individual drive components play an essential role when it comes to increasing transport capacity while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption.

In this connection, Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH provides a wide range of different measuring applications for aircraft gas turbines:
                              • Vibration analysis of the turbine blades (up to 96 channels simultaneously)
                              • Temperature measurement of turbine blades and bearings (up to 400 channels simultaneously)
                              • Torques and forces at the turbine shaft
                              • Radial and axial signal tapping
                            • Landing Flap

                            • High flight speeds and low landing speeds demand highly effective landing flaps. These require enormous actuating forces. The landing flaps as secondary flight controllers are driven either electromechanically, hydraulically, hydromechanically, pneumatically or manually.

The high torque transmission from the drive motors to the actuators counteracts the forces which act on the landing flaps. This enables the flaps to be positioned in a predefined angle relative to the wing.

Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH cooperates worldwide with customers from the aeronautical industry in order to obtain precise measurements of drive torque under variable actuator axial forces. The measured data obtained using sensor telemetry helps our partners in conducting further calculations and adjustments in respect of power loss, degrees of efficiency, functional reliability, lifetime, stability and temperature effects etc. The simple to install applications are produced on request for either test or flight operation. The requisite airworthiness qualification for flight operation is also carried out by Manner.
                            • Main Rotor

                            • The rotation of a two or three bladed main rotor supplies a helicopter’s lift, forward propulsion and steering. It is generally driven by a motive power unit (motor) via reduction gearing.

The rotors must withstand dynamic forces which are continuously changing in strength and direction of attack. In order to successfully measure the continually changing stresses and strains, rotor telemetry technology from Manner is employed worldwide. Of decisive importance in this context is our sensor telemetry’s resistance to temperature, climate conditions, air pollution and other expected environmental influences. The electronics of the multi-channel telemetry system for the main rotor are miniaturised and can therefore be installed in the rotor head or rotor shaft while occupying very little space.

Up to now, our rotor measurement systems have been successfully employed to obtain the following measurements:
                              • Dynamic bending moment at the main rotor shaft
                              • Distension of the rotor blades
                              • Vibration of the rotor blades
                              • Vectorial torque during load change (e.g. helicopter transport and rescue missions on mountain sides)
                              • Measurements on rotor test stands
                            • Tail Rotor

                            • The tail rotor serves to compensate for the torque generated by the main rotor. Furthermore, the tail rotor serves to steer the helicopter in the so called yaw axis, also known as the vertical or normal axis.

Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH develops measuring applications for open and enclosed tail rotors. Customers worldwide trust in our competence in this specialist field. On the basis of our non-contact sensor telemetry, essential information on dynamic torques, pressure and tractive forces, revolution speeds and temperatures etc. can be obtained. Our systems are designed for both rotor test stand applications, and for withstanding the harshest environmental conditions during tough flight operations.

Manner sensor telemetry for tail rotors has been employed to obtain precise data for the following measuring tasks:
                              • Rotor shaft torque
                              • Rotor blade vibrations
                              • Bearing temperatures
                            • Wind Energy

                            • Worldwide, increasing numbers of wind power plants are transforming the kinetic energy of the wind into electrical energy and feeding it into the electricity network. In order for the kinetic energy of wind currents to be efficiently converted into the desired electrical energy, a sophisticated system composed of rotor blades, generator, gears, rotor blade controller, control concept and braking system is required.

Whether it be for low speeds and high torques at the rotor, or high speeds and low torques at the generator, Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH designs the optimal application for all measuring tasks on the basis of its non-contact sensor telemetry. Our complete portfolio of applications provides optimised solutions for the following measurements:
                              • Torque, rotation speed and power of the gear, rotor and generator shafts
                              • Bending and torsional moment of the rotor blades
                              • Vibration analysis of the rotor blades
                              • Pressure and tractive force loads on individual drive train components
                              • Temperature monitoring of heat-sensitive components
                          • Turbines

                              • Torque Monitoring / Gas Turbine & Compressor

                              • During the transformation of kinetic energy into rotational energy, the turbine shaft is set in rotation. This transmits the useful power to the connected drive, such as a generator, pump, compressor or thrusters.

Over many years Manner Sensortelemetrie GmbH has proven its know-how in demanding measuring applications on single or multi-shaft gas turbine machines as well in the compression and turbine stages. In the process, we help our international customers optimise the performance, effectivity and efficiency of these complex facilities. Use the well-known advantages of Manner sensor telemetry for your measurements on turbine shafts and gain a decisive competitive advantage.

In addition to torque monitoring, which is often in the foreground, our systems can also monitor the following optional parameters:
                                • Revolution speed
                                • Pressure and tractive forces

                              • In respect of material fatigue on the turbine blades, numerous customers employ turbine telemetry from Manner. This enables all kinds of fatigue, such as crack propagation through to blade fractures, to be effectively predicted. Our turbine telemetry has also been successfully employed for test purposes relating to turbine blade construction, material and composition.

With the help of our non-contact sensor telemetry, nothing stands in the way of an optimisation of the stability, aerodynamics, efficiency and lifetime of turbines and turbine blades. Our applications are characterised by the following special features:
                                • Precise measurement of blade, i.e. paddle vibrations at high revolution speeds

                            • Turbo Charger

                                • Torque Monitoring

                                • In an age in which oil prices are continually rising and the discussion on CO2 emissions is generating increasing attention, a vehicle’s fuel consumption is a decisive factor in its sales success. The turbo charger is a contribution to improving the vehicle’s efficiency. For this reason, there are presently a series of new turbo charger developments. During qualification the stress of rotating components must be evaluated and optimised under different operating conditions with a view to load limits. As is known, these turbo chargers in the automobile sector rotate at speeds of up to 200,000 rpm.

In addition to the measurement of paddle / blade vibrations and bearing temperatures, the company Manner also supplies high precision applications for the measurement of torques acting on the turbo charger shaft. At maximum revolution speeds, the measurement data is precisely captured, and as standard, transmitted to the evaluation unit or computer using non-contact technology. The miniaturised construction and the extremely simple mounting are the result of years of development work in cooperation with the turbo charger industry.
                                • Bearing Temperature Measurement

                                • The turbo charger’s turbine transforms high flow energy into rotational movement, in the compressor, in a reverse process, the rotational movement is converted into flow energy. During this process, modern turbo chargers can reach rotation speeds of up to 20,000 revolutions per minute. Such revolution speeds can only be achieved by an optimal shaft bearing. Slide friction surfaces, bearing technology and other factors determine the temperature of the bearing, which can be simply measured with the assistance of sensor telemetry from Manner.

Regardless of whether slide or ball bearing, and independent of the materials used, Manner Sensortelemetrie offers you precise applications for the measurement of bearing temperatures. At high revolution speeds, the measurement data is precisely captured, and as standard, transmitted to the evaluation unit or computer using non-contact technology. The miniaturised construction and the extremely simple mounting are the result of years of development work in cooperation with the turbo charger industry.
                                • Turbo Charger Blade Vibration Measurement

                                • Manner’s sensor telemetry applications, especially as employed on the so called blades of a flow and compression system such as a turbo charger, are important to many customers. The high frequency oscillations of these blades have already been measured and precisely recorded in numerous cases with the assistance of our measuring system. This enables important information to be obtained for the design of compressor blades in respect of stability and aerodynamics.

At maximum revolution speeds, the blade or paddle vibrations are precisely measured, and as standard, transmitted to the evaluation unit or computer using non-contact technology. The miniaturised construction and the extremely simple mounting are the result of years of development work in cooperation with the turbo charger industry.
