THE DELTA4000 PLATFORM
- REDUCING ELECTRICITY GENERATION COSTS SUSTAINABLY
With the N149/4.0–4.5, the Nordex Group was the first company to launch a turbine platform with a flexible rating as part of its core design philosophy and operation strategy. This design approach, combined with a variety of operating modes, enables the Delta4000 turbine to adapt to the grid operator’s individual requirements, local wind conditions and noise constraints.
This also means it’s possible to optimise the overall yield of a wind farm by means of the different maximum output of individual turbines, thus always exploiting the full potential of each turbine position within each single wind farm.
Like its predecessor generation, the turbines of the Delta4000 series meet the grid requirements of international markets, in addition to providing grid stabilizing system services.
REDUCED SERVICE EFFORTS
The technical concept of the Delta4000 series minimises service requirements over the entire service life of the turbine. Each component was rigorously designed to ensure lower maintenance effort, in addition to a mobile crane solution, which the models of this product series provide.

The latest development of the bestselling and proven Delta4000 series masters a broad range of the 6MW+ class. Levering more than 35 years of experience in connecting proven wind technology with innovative engineering, the Nordex Group has now developed the N163/6.X, which is based on the N149/4.0-4.5 launched in 2017. This was the first turbine worldwide that introduced flexible rating as part of its core design philosophy and operation strategy.
We have incorporated our experience gathered from developing and testing the existing six variants of the Delta4000 series in the 4MW+ and 5MW+ class. As all turbines of the Delta4000 series, the N163/6.X covers a wide range of power modes, providing the flexibility to optimize a customers project-specific AEP investment criteria as well as rating and sound requirements. The N163/6.X comes with a design lifetime of 25 years, which can be extended to up to 35 years. The turbines high flexibility offers opportunities to optimize the revenues in line with PPA structures and merchant price profiles.

OPTIMIZED PERFORMANCE FOR MARKETS WITH LESS COMPLEX SITES
The N155/5.X leverages already developed components of the current 5.X series – the N149/5.X and the N163/5.X – to boost annual energy production per wind turbine. This variant improves competitiveness in stronger wind conditions or in situations where fewer wind turbines on a grid-constrained project result in a better overall cost of energy.
This applies for many locations worldwide, but will fit optimally in much of the United States, Latin America, South Africa, and Southeast Asia, and represents a large segment of projects being developed in large growth markets.
The turbine leverages the fully tested and certified architecture of the Delta4000 nacelle, features a hydraulic hub system in conjunction with blades that have a glass fiber spar cap construction.
It capitalizes on the modular platform concept of the Delta4000 by integrating an upgraded drive train and electrical system to facilitate higher power rating. First certifications and WTG deliveries in Mid 2021.

The N155/4.X variant of the Delta4000 product series is targeted to achieve improved cost of energy and annual energy production in sites with limited constraints.
It’s based on the proven and certified architecture of the Delta4000 but includes a glass-fiber rotor and different hub set-up to optimize performance
in typical conditions found in many MW-constrained projects.
This could include locations around the globe but will fit optimally in much of the United States, Latin America, South Africa, and Southeast Asia.

THE DELTA PLATFORM
- OUR MAIN TARGET: TO CUT THE COST OF ENERGY
With the Delta Generation, Nordex Group customers benefit from the know-how we have gathered in the multimegawatt range over many years. Mature technical solutions have proven their worth a thousands times over.
With the development of Delta turbine, we met our main target – to cut the cost of energy, by designing turbines which deliver much higher yields from any given site.
The economic efficiency is achieved by larger rotors and higher hub hights for each wind class, as well as raised rated output.
These turbines make installation in locations with complex topography, as for example wooded areas possible.
In spite of the considerable increase in output, the sound power levels remain low for each wind class.
The Delta Generation is designed so that Service operations can be conducted rapidly and safely, this reducing ongoing operational costs. N131/3900
