Waste to Energy Gasification System
Gasification is a process that converts organic matter into fuel gas.
In gasification, unlike incineration, the amount of oxygen present during the process is limited, i.e. just 25-30% of oxygen is needed to complete the combustion of organic matter, which gives rise to many environmental advantages.
Moreover, during gasification the chemical energy stored in organic matter is turned into chemical energy contained in a gas. Said gas can be used as fuel to obtain energy for engines, gas turbines or boilers. Residual ashes may either be treated as waste or used for energy recovery as a building material, fertiliser or for glass manufacturing, among other uses. If the organic matter is a low-ash content waste and its resulting ashes cannot be recycled, after the process it will still have been possible to significantly minimise the waste volume, reducing it to inert ash and taking advantage of its energy content.
Sludge disposal, with electrical and thermal energy production. The process is energetically self-sufficient and does not require external energy inputs.
Comprehensive solutions in sustainable energy taking advantage of more cost-effective, efficient and safer biomass gasification.
Why greene? We are a company highly specialised in the installation of machinery for biomass. At greene we turn waste into power and for this purpose we design comprehensive projects, which include the building, setting up, promotion and commissioning of biomass gasification plants. Since 2011 our brand, Greene Waste to Energy, S.L. (greene), strives to offer the best service in the sector. It was founded by Spanish entrepreneurs who set themselves a clear goal: to conquer the industry with a distinguishing and innovative technological process.
Quality, safety, prevention and environment are four key components of our corporate philosophy. These are some of the reasons to choose our company:
Energy: we generate thermal and electrical energy.
Waste: we reduce organic waste disposal by 80%.
Profitability: we design quality projects with a minimum investment per kW installed.
Plants: we offer a wide range of plants, profitable from 0.5 MW.
Expertise: we develop in-house technology, which is duly certified and patented.
Besides a global environmental concern, municipal waste disposal also poses a major problem for cities because, despite growing recycling trends and the implementation of measures to minimise waste generation, in best case scenarios waste production remains stable, if it does not grow.
So, in order to reach zero landfill, town councils and regions must invest in sorting centres. In these facilities recyclable materials (such as plastics, paper and cardboard, etc.) can be sorted out, the resulting organic matter dried or composted and energy can be recovered from the reject fraction.
greene designs comprehensive plants to manage:
Waste reception
Sorting waste into different fractions

Paper and cardboard b. Glass c. Metals d. Organic matter e. Plastics (film, PET, HDPE)
f. Others
Energy recovery from tyres using quality processes carried out at ELT gasification plants to meet current energy consumption needs.
The importance of ELT gasification Our projects are designed to satisfy today's industry needs. For example, in Spain some 250,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres (ELTs) are generated per year. Our ELT gasification plants offer convenient solutions for the disposal of such environment-polluting waste.
Currently, 4.6% of the ELTs managed are used for energy recovery, 11.1% for retreading, 1.5% for recycling, and 82.8% are disposed of in landfills. It is estimated that between three and five million tonnes of ELTs are left unmanaged. These figures drive us to develop hi-tech ELT gasification projects.
Gasification technology designed and developed by greene.
greene technology for biomass and organic waste gasification is mainly based on a horizontal rotating reactor able to separate the different thermal stages of the gasification process.
It is made up of rotating reactors in which the main reactions of the gasification process occur separately and in a controlled fashion. Each reactor has been designed so that it can optimally perform the reactions occurring inside it. The technology is also based on the concept of “indirect heat” to transfer the thermal energy needed for the dehydration (drying) and pyrolysis endothermic processes. Therefore, the syngas obtained circulates through the endothermic reactors, thus reaching a thermal balance and achieving high performance.
Our technology is designed to separate the volatile fraction (condensable) from the solid carbonaceous fraction (char).
The volatile fraction is turned into permanent fuel gas suitable for feeding a combustion engine. The char feeds a gasification reactor used for the incomplete combustion exothermic reactions and gasification reactions of the char itself (heterogeneous).
We design, manufacture, set up and eventually commission waste or biomass gasification plants.

Aware of the importance of electrical and thermal energy for modern civilisations, we also understand that electricity access and availability has a considerable impact on human well-being and health. Nowadays, the richest countries use large amounts of energy in relation to poor countries, which show lower consumption. In the coming years this scenario will change dramatically as developing countries are expected to see a rise in power consumption. Therefore, they will have to resort to gasification to address economic, sustainability and population growth issues.
Renewable energy consumption will increase mainly due to a rise in power use; according to some research, electricity consumption is set to rise by 57% between 2004 and 2030. Oil and natural gas prices are also expected to keep on growing.
