West Point Foundry & Machine Company

Company Profile

West Point Foundry and Machine Company in West Point, GA. is located 80 miles southwest of Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport, and has sales and service offices in Gastonia, NC, Shanghai, China, and Munich, Germany. West Point began operations in 1868 under the name of West Point Ironworks. In 1932, the company was renamed West Point Foundry and Machine Company. At that time, West Point began supplying parts to a number of textile machinery manufactures and shortly after built its foundation with the sizing machine. Since then, we have expanded our markets and currently export to more than 75 countries. Our primary machinery products include sizing machines (slashers) for both spun and synthetic yarn, ball warpers, creels and long chain beamers for rope dying indigo systems, high speed warpers for V-Type and Magazine Creels, heavy duty direct beamers for synthetic yarns and tape, hydraulic corduroy cutting machines and corduroy brushers. The 1997 purchase of GasTex, Gastonia, NC, and the 1998 purchase of Reed-Chatwood, Rockford, IL, allowed West Point to improve its textile machinery product offering. GasTex specializes in refurbishing and upgrading used textile equipment. Reed-Chatwood's product line of new warp preparation equipment has been merged with West Point's and allows us to offer the best features of both products. Reed-Chatwood parts and service can be purchased from GasTex in Gastonia, N.C. West Point also offers a diversity of contract manufacturing services. These services are offered to a wide range of original equipment manufacturers who look at West Point as their manufacturing partner. Pattern making, grey and ductile iron castings are included in our foundry services along with machining, fabrication, assembly, engineering, and ASME vessels. Our installation advisors, service technicians, and contract installation personnel are highly trained professionals. West Point's Parts Department and Service Department can be contacted after normal business hours for emergency parts or service. Training sessions can be conducted in the customer's plant or at our facilities. Our fleet of trucks provides rapid, economical, safe handling of machinery, parts or castings to our customer's door, the airport, or shipping ports.
