American Robot Corporation was established in 1982. In 1987 the name was changed to American Cimflex Corporation to reflect the company's diversification into other areas of automation. In 1990 the company merged with Teknowledge, Inc. becoming public as Cimflex Teknowledge Corporation. Later the same year, the American Robot Division split from Cimflex becoming the independant, privately held American Robot Corporation. American Robot Corporation is a manufacturer of industrial robot controllers, industrial robots, and automation systems. It has three major product lines, the Universal Robot Controller, the Merlin articulated six axis robot, and the Gantry 3000 modular gantry robot. The company in headquartered in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
