Erla Sólveig Óskarsdóttir, the Icelandic designer, conceived the first piece in the ames collection in the form of a chair with equally precise and organic lines. Although in essence an unostentatious and simple design, the sweeping curve of the backrests characterises its passionate accentuation.

Ames einn stands on a satin-chromed, tubular steel frame, the seat and back are in UV-resistant durable synthetics. Ames einn is available in six different colours (red, black, white, dark grey, yellow and coffee) which underline its versatility for a wide range of colour cominations. The chair is stackable, light in weight and eminently suitable for conference rooms and all kind of lounges, wherever a room offers and provides something special.

„ONE CHAIR WITH MANY FACES“

Continuing with our journey of contrast, Iceland and Colombia are countries with very different geographies, both with large mountains, the landscape change from each new angle. The weather and light also change the landscape from one minute to the next and you think you have suddenly been brought to a new place.

Our chair design is inspired by the landscape and ames' aim is to make people experience a variety of forms when viewing our design as if watching a contrast landscape. We like changes. Ames tveir is intended for people who like changes, one chair with many faces. A wooden chair on four legs for the dining room, another white-painted on a runner frame in the kitchen and an upholstered chair on one column in the office. The appearance changes with every new angle and version.
Ames Tveir is a shell chair with a new look. The concept is a play between the organic shell, the curved backrest and the space between them. At first glance it looks as if the backrest has been cut out from the shell, but a closer look reveals that the two forms are different.

Stacking shell chair. The backrest in 3D wood veneer applies comfortable support to the body while the shell serves the whole structure. The components can vary in material and finish, allowing many different versions. The shell is made of 3D wood veneer, optional beech, American walnut and oak and can be complemented with a felt or leather cover. Ames tveir is available with three different frames: four legged, sledge or on column. All frames are with or without armrests.
