        • Reconsolidation

        • LEMKEN pays a lot of attention to optimal reconsolidation: with different packer types or following rollers of the machines for seedbed preparation and stubble cultivation.

When ploughing, the soil is loosened, crumbled and at the same time its porosity volume is increased. This allows air and heat to enter the soil and interrupts the soil capillaries. Because of tight crop rotations, there is usually no time for gradual settling and natural fermentation of the soil. In addition, drying out of the ploughed soil must be prevented. On the other hand, capillary action must be restored as quickly as possible for the seed sub-bed.

            • Furrow Presses - FlexPack

            • Distance from farm to field, often increases with farm size. This means furrow presses fully-mounted on the plough, offer a practical and time-saving solution by avoiding the need for a separate transport tractor. The FlexPack can also deal with variable working widths for mounted ploughs.

              Advantages

              • The packer frame runs parallel to the plough frame. This avoids strips of land being double pressed when the plough does not utilise its maximum working width. Thus the FlexPack guarantees uniform reconsolidation of the soil.
              • The FlexPack is also used during ploughing of the first furrow, and the packer can be used both at the headland and side edges of the field.
              • Packer ring arrangements offset in pairs, with a diameter of 60 cm V-profile, ensure that work is performed without any clogging. This ensures an excellent pressing effect whilst preventing them sinking too deeply into the soil.
              • The load, transferred to the FlexPack, can be adjusted hydraulically to provide the optimum level of consolidation for the conditions.
            • Furrow Presses - VarioPack

            • Immediately behind the plough, and thus at the most favourable moment and in the optimum moisture state, the soil is reconsolidated at the depth of the crock and coarse clods are broken up. The formation of fermentation is promoted and drying is prevented. The capillary action interrupted by the loosening and crumbling of the soil and the enlarged pores is quickly restored. The furrow press thus lays the foundation for the seedbed in the tight crop rotations.

            • Furrow Presses - VarioPack Frontpacker

            • The front packer (FE) is characterised by its short design, active steering, and a very favourable centre of gravity. It is available with one row of rings in rigid and folding versions.

Due to its reconsolidation, apart from the plough furrow press with push device, the VarioPack attached to the front hydraulics prevents the tractor wheels from sinking deep into the soil and the formation of a ridge between the wheels.

          • Seedbed Preparation

          • The soil is the most important resource in productive agriculture. Choice of the primary cultivation procedure, for the particular location, and optimal use of technology, help retain the long-term profitability of the soil. An important factor for a successful harvest is the preparation of seedbeds.

            Tasks of seedbed preparation

            • Levelling the surface to create uniform conditions for sowing.
            • The tools must break up clods, lumps and crumbs.
            • Optimum distribution of aggregate sizes and creation of a longterm structural stability of the soil
            • Cultivation to a consistent working depth.
            • Adequate reconsolidation of the soil under the seeds to ensure the water supply of seedlings are during the first growth phase.
            • Create a large enough pore volume in the topsoil, to ensure an adequate supply of water and air to the plant roots.

                                      • Optionally, the subsoiler cultivates the soil between the ridges.
                                      • Then the hoeing discs cut the weeds from the sides of the ridge and the spring tines loosen the soil between the ridges.
                                      • At the end of the process, the earthing-up rebuilds the ridge back into its shape.
