    With its universal machines, GROB has introduced a series of universal machining centers which proves the technological know-how and developing competence of the GROB engineers in this market segment, which is relatively new to the company.

                      In the field of assembly technology, GROB has years of expertise in the design of assembly lines. All assembly stations or assembly lines are special constructions individually planned, built and designed in accordance with customer specific requirements. Typical assembly component groups are engines and cylinder heads as well as automatic and manual transmissions for cars and trucks in medium and large quantities.

                        • GROB assembly systems are mainly of modular design. Individual assembly stations with corresponding automation can be combined into complete assembly lines according to customer required cycle times. The stations have the structure, feeders and automation standardized. Therefore, highly complex assembly lines with a standardized structure can be quickly and cost-effectively designed and built.
                        • Engine and transmission assembly

                        • GROB has long-standing experience building of highly complex assembly lines for cylinder head and engine components. Even partial assemblies such as differential housing, cylinder head covers and piston/ connecting rod assemblies, for example, are subassemblies for which GROB can supply optimal assembly systems.

                          • To improve the overall performance of combustion engines, the automotive industry is working on new technologies for reducing the weight of engines and increasing their performance. Weight can effectively be reduced by using aluminum cylinder crankcases with thermally-sprayed cylinder bearing surfaces.
                          • Paradigm shift in GROB workpiece machining

                          • In addition to established customer workpieces such as cylinder heads, cylinder crank casings or transmission cases, chassis and bodywork components such as aluminium framework or structural components are becoming increasing important for GROB.

                        • Highly modern Technology and Application Center (TAC)

                          The Technology and Application Center in Mindelheim is part of the sales department for the GROB standalone machining centers. Equipped with most versions of the GROB standalone machine series, sample test machining of workpieces from all areas of the machining industry can be performed in response to the most demanding inquiries. GROB technicians test feasibility, create time studies, program and simulate any workpiece machining.
