Business Profile

Corning Laser Technologies GmbH

CLT (Corning Laser Technologies) combines over 20-years of experience in designing laser-based machine tools with Corning® Incorporated’s deep understanding of material science. CLT has evolved out of Innolas Systems, which was aquired by Corning® in 2014.

In 2002 CLT began creating precision tools for the production of photovoltaic panels, and extended its market reach to include semiconductors, electronics, and precision engineering.

In 2012 the focus shifted to glass cutting and CLT developed novel laser cutting technologies as well as complete processing machines for flat glass panel processing. The Corning Laser Technologies systems are developed in close cooperation with the specialists at Corning, the world’s leading innovators in specialty glass. Corning’s material science and optic capabilities add unique advantages to the laser glass cutting process.

The Corning® nanoPerforation glass cutting uses a specially tuned laser to perforate brittle material using a non linear process, leading to direct material dissociation. The process separates the glass substrate all the way through the entire thickness, applying a novel single pass process. The result is a superior high cut quality at near net-shape, with no taper, minimal surface roughness and material loss.

The process is ideally suited for strengthened and un-strengthened glass (e. g. Corning® Gorilla® Glass), soda lime glass, high index glass, sapphire and other glass types and brittle material.
