  • VLT® Frequency Drives - Save Money and Energy

    VLT® frequency drives replace on-off operation – with the associated wear and tear and high energy consumption – with a smoother and more precise electronic speed control. Allowing plant optimisation and energy saving within HVAC, water and wastewater and many other applications.

    Like in the Chester Zoo (UK) where VLT drives not only provide optimum conditions for elephants, jaguars and penguins. At the same time the drives help saving up to 78% energy. 55% of these savings are directly attributable to the VLT frequency drives.

    • Danfoss VLT® High Power Drives

    • Using the latest techniques and components, Danfoss Drives has succeeded in developing high power frequency drives that are the smallest, lightest and most efficient in their power range of 90 kW to 1,4 MW.

      The new Danfoss High Power Drives include the VLT® AutomationDrive, VLT® HVAC Drive and VLT® AQUA Drive models.
    • Danfoss VLT® Low Harmonic Drives

    • The ®VLT Low Harmonic Drive is a complete VLT frequency drive built on the power and control platform of the new generation VLT drives. The difference is that the VLT Low Harmonic Drive eliminates the harmonic disturbances on the supply grid by actively imposing currents into the grid so that the high quality sine wave of the grid current is restored.

      Like the other VLT frequency drives, the VLT Low Harmonic Drive has a modular build-up and a®  high energy efficiency, back-channel cooling and user-friendly operation.

      The VLT AQUA Drive, VLT HVAC Drive and VLT AutomationDrive are available in this new low harmonic version.

  • Decentral Products

  • Danfoss Drives decentral frequency converters are designed to be mounted close to or directly on the motor. They are extremely tight and robust and can be built in as integrated parts of applications - even for wash down areas.
    • VLT® DriveMotor FCM 300

    • The VLT® FCM 300 Series is an integrated drive-motor solution which combines a VLT® frequency converter and a high standard quality motor in a single product.

      The frequency converter is attached in place of the motor terminal box and it is not higher than the standard terminal box -nor wider or longer than the motor. The VLT® DriveMotor FCM 300 is available in a multitude of variants, individualised to meet customer requirements.

    • VLT® Decentral FCD 300

    • The VLT® FCD 300 is a complete frequency converter designed for decentral mounting. It can be mounted on the machine/wall -close to the motor - or directly on the motor.

      The decentral design reduces the need for central control panels and space-consuming motor control cabinets are eliminated. In addition, the need for long screened motor cables is significantly reduced.

  • Soft Starters

  • Where variable speed is not required, electronic soft starters still provide benefits compared to star/delta and other contactor solutions.
    • VLT® Soft Starter MCD 500

    • VLT® Soft Starter MCD 500 is a total motor starting solution.
      Current transformers measure motor current and provide feedback for controlled motor ramp profiles.
      AAC, the Adaptive Acceleration Control automatically employs the best starting and stopping profile for the application.

    • VLT® Compact Starter MCD 200

    • Due to extensive use of the latest technology, such as new semiconductor control algorithms and bypass design, the new soft starters are very compact and heat dissipation very low.

      There is no need for extra ventilation or bypass contactors. This simplifies installation and keeps panel space at a minimum.

    • VLT® Soft Start Controller MCD 100

    • MCD 100 is a cost effective and extremely compact soft starter for AC motors up to 11 kW, due to a unique semiconductor design.

      MCD 100 is a true %u201cfit and forget%u201d product.Selection can be made on the basis of the motor power %u2013 exactly as with traditional contactors.

  • Power Options

  • VLT® Frequency converters have built in protection to minimise side effects. This protects the mains supply, allows for long motor cables and saves costs.
    • VLT® Power Options MCC 102 du/dt filter

    • du/dt filters reduce the du/dt values on the motor terminal phase-to-phase voltage %u2013 an issue that is important for short motor cables.

      The du/dt filters reduce the motor insulation stress and are recommended in applications with risk of flashover.

      Compared to sine-wave filters, du/dt filters cut off frequencies above the switching frequency. Having small inductance and capacitance, the price of the filter is lower.

    • MCC 101 Sine wave filters

    • Sine-wave Filters provide a sinusoidal phase-to-phase motor voltage and reduce motor insulation stress and eliminate switching acoustic noise from the motor. Bearing currents are also reduced, especially in larger motors above 50 kW.

    • VLT® AHF 005 & AHF 010 Harmonic Filter

    • The Danfoss AHF 005 and AHF 010 are advanced harmonic filters not to be compared with traditional harmonic trap filters. The Danfoss harmonic filters have been specially designed to match the Danfoss frequency converters.

      By connecting the Danfoss harmonic filters AHF 005 or AHF 010 in front of a Danfoss frequency converter the total harmonic current distortion generated back to the mains is reduced to 5% and 10% respectively.
