IWAKI solves your pumping
problems
The Best Chemical Handling Pumps
IWAKI pumps can be found in many manufacturing areas and production
processes in nearly all sectors of industry. Their reliability has been
proofed in a lot of applications and test procedures.
IWAKI originally started in 1956 as a distributor of laboratory equipment in
Tokyo, where our head quarter is still located. In 1959 the first chemical
pump was designed for the industry. Since then the philosophy of a forceful
implementation of innovations as well as the enhancements of the existing
pump series is traced. This was the precondition not only for a lot of new
developments, but also for the fact, that IWAKI nowadays is one of the
leading pump manufacturers worldwide.
Product Portfolio
Magnetic Centrifugal Pumps - Plastic
- Magnetic drive centrifugal pumps in plastic design are
especially predestined for the delivery of hazardous and toxic media. A
split case made of plastics encapsulates the product room to be hermetically
tight and to separate it from the environment and does not induce, contrary
to the split case design of metal, any eddy currents because of its magnetic
field which can reduce the efficiency of the pump, as well as cause heating
up of the transported medium.
Functional principle of the magnetic drive:
The magnetic drive process pumps made by IWAKI feature a special design
that allows their use also under unfavourable operating conditions. An
exactly matched arrangement of the rare earth magnets with high magnetic
power in combination with appropriately dimensioned compensating areas
clearly reduces tarnishing of the contact surfaces of the impeller unit in
the front and the rear pump area. With this, this pump is significantly more
wear-resistant and usually, it is almost maintenance-free. Furthermore, this
measure prevents damages or unwanted deformation on the wet plastic parts
due to high frictional heat.
Due to the robust and low-wear design, the magnet-driven process pumps made
by IWAKI can be found in nearly all industrial areas, including demanding
applications in the chemical pharmaceutical industry. MDW

- Mag. drive pumps with non contact system to resist dry
running
Features of MDM
Non contact system
With the non contact system the MDM features a unique mechanism, which gives
a greatly improved performance against dry running. The high magnet force of
the rare earth magnets prevents coming in contact of the contact surfaces in
the front and rear areas of the pump. Therefore high temperatures are
avoided. This greatly improves resistance against dry running in comparison
with conventional mag. drive fluororein pumps. (only for CF type with high
density carbon bearings)
ETFE & PFA are available as standard
Carbon fibre reinforced ETFE and PFA linings can be supplied to cover
most applications. PFA being a natural unfilled material generates only few
contaminations and makes it ideally suited for transfering of high purity
chemicals.
Excellent durability
The fluororesin front casings are covered with a ductile iron casing,
which add strenght and durability. Due to the highest sress under which the
rear casing is placed, it is protected by a rear casing cover made of fibre
reinforced plastic. Additionally to the higher stability, the eddy current
loss caused by the rotating magnetic field is eliminated. Should it come in
contact with the magnet capsule, no spark would be generated. Also the
magnet capsule is fitted with a metal core to obtain a higher resistance
against vibrations.

The MX series represents the latest state of the art
design in plastic magnetic drive pumps to meet the most severe of operating
conditions. When fitted with a carbon bearing the MX will allow for brief
periods of dry running. The new “self-radiating structure” (PAT.) in
addition to the existing proven non-contact principle and front and rear
supported spindle greatly improves the pump ability to withstand some
cavitation and running against closed discharge valve. Our innovative design
has achieved higher efficiency. MX series pumps are highly recommended for
use in various production processes such as filtering, spraying, washing and
etching in surface treatment processes.
2-parts volute casing
The MX series is the first resin magnet pump which uses the pump casing
divided into the front casing and the rear casing to form a vortex chamber
as an ideal form. Therefore, the internal leak phenomenon, which means that
the liquid getting out of the impeller returns to the pump casing and is
suppressed to a minimum and the liquid is efficiently guided to the
discharge port to enhance overall efficiency.
Self-radiating structure (int. patent pending)
Through heat-dispersion holes provided in the fixed portions of the impeller
and the magnet capsule, the liquid around the spindle and the bearing is
forced to circulate so that heat generated by sliding can be reduced
effectively. Thus, thermal deformation and melt are prevented.
