      • Plastic waste

      • Innovative, effective solutions for retrieving plastics from waste

The worldwide demand for recycling of used plastics is growing rapidly as more and more applications are being introduced for the increasing demands and encouragements to use recycled plastics on the way of creating a truly circular economy. As for the Netherlands, the country aims to develop a circular economy by 2050 – a waste-free economy that runs as much as possible on sustainable and renewable materials. This will have a considerable impact on conserving natural resources, reducing dependence on landfill and protecting the environment from plastic pollution.

At the same moment, recycling companies contemplating in investing in plastics sorting equipment will expect to find their return in investments to be of a profitable venture.
      • Paper and cardboard waste

      • Better separation and higher output value

Since paper and its derivatives represent a valuable raw material, reprocessing of waste paper for reuse stays on the global recycling agenda as one of the main tasks. Various sorts of waste paper comprise wrapping and packaging paper and (corrugated) cardboard, (shredded) office paper as well as discarded paper materials like old newspapers and magazines. To process those materials efficiently, a high precision and the best separation performance are crucial.

The specific purpose of a waste paper installation is to separate, sort and process printed paper and cardboard from an input stream of mixed paper. The output of this sorting process is then baled and shipped for reuse. Efficient separation is key to a higher value output, thereby increasing the quality of the end product.
      • Single stream waste

      • Designing today’s single stream systems with the flexibility to process tomorrow’s material

While most EU countries still have a policy that favours source separation, Single Stream waste processing is increasingly becoming an alternative for recycling mixed MSW. Based on our experience in the United States, the United Kingdom and France, Bollegraaf is certain that Single Stream waste recycling is an effective, efficient and sustainable alternative to the way most European countries currently collect and process waste.

A single stream installation separates, sorts, and processes valuable commodities, such as newspaper, mixed paper, plastic containers, PET, Tetra Pak and glass, which are then baled and shipped for reuse. We are committed to supplying the best single stream sorting equipment by blending conventional low-maintenance technology with highly automated machinery capable of processing almost any type of incoming material. In addition, we provide the necessary installation flexibility for it to be able to change with the times.
      • Waste-to-energy solutions

      • Creating high-value RDF with MSW and C&I waste

Since the future belongs to alternative energy sources, MSW and C&I wastes are more and more seen as one of such resources, largely driven by legislation and the increasing scarcity of some materials. Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) is a result of processing MSW and C&I waste by separating the combustible fraction from the non-combustibles, such as metals and glass.

RDF has a higher calorific value than untreated MSW and C&I and can be used to produce electricity or as an alternative for fossil fuels, for instance for cement kilns and power plants. Its use can help on the way to reduce fossil fuels dependence and GHG emissions as well as to increasing energy security. At Bollegraaf we offer unmatched support in designing waste-to-energy installations and strive to deliver maximum diversion from your waste stream.
      • Municipal solid waste

      • High capacity MSW sorting installations utilizing the most advanced automated equipment

Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), or household waste, consists of discarded everyday consumable items. This general waste is normally put into a black bag or bin and contains a mixture of wet and dry recyclables, organic, inorganic and biodegradable materials, including food waste, containers, cans, cartons, product packaging, newspapers and card.

As one of the world’s leading system integrators, Bollegraaf knows what it takes to separate MSW into valuable recyclables on the one hand and high-quality RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) on the other. With increasing regulatory pressure on landfilling untreated MSW and the active search for alternative energy sources, energy-from-waste has become an important solution.
      • Construction and demolition

      • We are one of the most experienced suppliers with more than 300 C&D recycling solutions built worldwide

Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste constitutes one of the largest waste streams in the EU, with an annual production of 1 billion tons. Increasing landfill tax rates and growing environmental awareness make recycling C&D waste a solid business opportunity.

It is well known there is no single specification for C&D waste composition. It varies by country, region, city and even suburb. The requirements for the separation system also vary, depending on the available markets for the recycled products. That is also one of the reasons why C&D waste has traditionally been hand-sorted. Our market-leading knowledge and expertise inspires us to engineer, build and deliver tailor-made automated solutions including state-of-the-art air separation technology and sensor based sorting. This results in designing easy-to-use high throughput plants with a low cost of ownership which perform to your specifications and offer an excellent return on investment.

            • Lubo Vibrating Feeder

            • A vibrating feeder is a heavy-duty bunker with a vibrating gutter to gradually feed the sorting system. The transport speed of the feeder can be altered by changing the vibrating frequency of the drive – the lighter material moves more slowly forward than the heavier material.
          • Screening

          • Screening is fairly considered to be an integral part of the material sorting process. It is aimed to separate materials based on various sizes. Screens can be put in multiple steps of the recycling line to assure high-accuracy size separation where needed. And to divide materials into different streams per fraction size. This step serves two goals. On one hand, it allows to obtain a high-quality homogeneous final product. On the other hand, it helps to extract other valuable materials from the waste stream.

Lubo outstanding design and engineering for unrivaled ROI

Lubo patented starscreens represent the best example of our advanced technology for size separation. The StarScreen® consists of various axles on which rubber stars are mounted. The screen size can be determined by the size of the stars, the space between the stars and the rotation speed of the screen. StarScreen gives a the high processing capacity, high purity and low operating and maintenance costs. Using the StarScreen results in maximum ROI.

              • Lubo AWS Starscreen

              • Lubo Anti-Wrapping Starscreen (AWS) is a unique machine for material sorting process as it tackles precise size separation and provides highest efficiency in its class. This patented technology has been developed in-house at the Bollegraaf Group in the Netherlands.

AWS solves a major problem of wrapping of film, tape and textile.
The key words distinguishing AWS’ design are modularity, efficiency and ease of maintenance. Spread in a thin layer over the shafts, material of smaller size falls down between them while larger size objects are carried further. The uniqueness of the AWS relates to its anti-wrapping feature that prevents objects such as plastic bags, foils, tapes or textiles to obstruct the screen. This is crucial in order to maximize separation and output performance of downstream sorting equipment which in turn results in sorting installation being more consistent in terms of output capacity and purity of their recovered valuables.
              • Lubo OCC screen

              • Lubo OCC screen (Old Corrugated Cardboard) represents a screen perfectly suited for separation of large cardboard from the material flow. The OCC is used for screening off paper, small cardboard and other small materials and is placed at the beginning of a sorting installation.

Making manual separation of large cardboard redundant
The OCC screening deck consists of various axles with rubber stars of 660mm in diameter mounted on them. The screening size can be determined by the size of the stars, the interval between the stars and the rotation speed. The general working principle of the OCC implies using the difference in size and rigidity of the material, in which case, cardboard is hit over the screen by the stars and paper slides between the stars. The feed of the OCC screen has a double setting of stars which prevents material with a medium size from falling through the screening deck.
              • Lubo Fines Starscreen

              • The Lubo Fines Starscreen is a screen used mainly for separating construction and demolition waste which can cope with the most difficult materials in many different applications. The design and engineering of the Lubo Fines StarScreen delivers surprisingly low costs per tonne of waste. The starscreen has one screening deck placed at an angle between 38° and 48°. Bottles, cans and other round objects will roll back down because of the steep angle of the deck. The screening deck screens for 50 mm. Glass and other small material is screened out, whilst paper is carried upwards. The screening deck is placed in a steel construction of its own.

In order to reinforce the separation rate, Lubo advises the use of air support. The airflow will reinforce the upward movement which will increase capacity. The round parts will roll back.
                • Lubo ONP Starscreen

                • The Lubo ONP (Office and Newspaper) StarScreen is high-capacity screen perfectly suited to separate various paper sizes from each other which also resists wrapping for an entire shift. As specially designed stars do not become loaded with film or other stringy material, it guarantees peak performance with minimum cleaning time.

Increased productivity and separation capability without wrapping
The single ONP Starscreen has one screening deck placed in its own steel construction at an angle between 38° and 45°. This deck consists of various axles on which rubber stars are mounted. The deck has its own star setting depending on the screen size and the star axles are made of solid steel. The ONP is used to separate paper of different sizes from 3D flow. Standard screen sizes for a single ONP are A4 or A5, however as the discs can be moved on the shafts, any setting as possible.

The design and engineering of the ONP StarScreen delivers surprisingly low costs per ton of waste. The machine features low energy consumption, requires little maintenance and is easy to operate due to the Lubo Quick Disconnect System, which makes it possible for a quick shaft change.

The PaperMagnet is perfectly suited to recover paper, cardboard and film from a polluted Single Stream or Dual stream flow with high accuracy.

Optimum separation for every type of material composition
The principal of separation is based on a belt conveyor set at a steep angle making maximum use of gravity and creating vacuum force at the belt surface so the light 2D materials will be transported to the top before being discharged, whilst heavier 3D materials fall/roll down . Depending on the size and composition of the input material, recovery rates of 85 to 98% can be achieved.

Parameters, such as the speed of the conveyor or the pressure of the airflow (vacuum), can be adjusted to the nature of the infeed. This ensures optimum separation for every type of material composition.
              • Density separation

                    • The main purpose of a conveyor is transporting material from one to another sorting machine. But it is not as easy as it seems at first glance. Choosing the right type and shape of a conveyor can be done based on the available space, deciding based on material characteristics and flow capacities will have great influence on the availability and profitability of your plant.

Every detail is of importance when it comes to designing a perfect recycling plant.

As there are many types of conveyors in the market, it might be a challenge to figure out which one will be suitable for your company’s unique requirements. At Bollegraaf, we aim to find that perfect match depending on the building layout, volume and kind of recyclables handled by your company.
                        • BRS Chain belt conveyor

                        • The HBT conveyor is a Bollegraaf chain belt conveyor used to carry waste paper, domestic and industrial waste. These conveyors are well-known for their long life and low maintenance costs as a result of, among other things, their robust construction and the manner in which the belt supports are mounted.

Wear resistant rubber surface material combined with tubed belt carriers comprise a high performance belt system
The steel under-frame of the chain belt conveyors consist on both sides of 8 mm plates that are linked together with tubular sections. In turn, the plates are linked together lengthwise by way of angle steel sections that also serve as running surface for the chain. As a result, the belt construction is extremely rigid. The angle steel is kept for as long as possible insofar permissible for transportation. The wear and tear on the chain is therefore very limited and the noise level of the chain carrier very low.
                        • HBGT conveyor

                        • The HBGT Conveyor is a sliding belt conveyor used especially to move light, voluminous materials and perfectly suited for use as a sorting belt because of its flat, enclosed construction. On top, the cloth slides over a steel plate and is taken across support rollers on the other side.

The frame of the sliding belt is of modular construction: a motor section and a tension section with, in between, modules of different lengths. Every module is made of 5mm sheet steel reinforced with ribs, providing a solid construction. The side screens of the belt can be supplied in different heights. The sliding belt is put into motion by way of a drum that is driven by an SEW motor reductor, which has been mounted directly on the shaft.

Extremely suitable as a sorting belt due to its flat design with an attractive price/performance ratio
The HBGT conveyor belt is build up from several layers of rubber and canvas. The rubber belt slides on top of the frame sections of the conveyor. On the bottom side it is supported by rollers. These support rollers are not more than 2500 mm apart. The rubber belt is resistant to wear and tear. Belts that are resistant to oil and grease are optionally available. The belt can be equipped with cleats of different heights. The chain is tensioned by the tension roller that is suspended by two tension bearings which placed in the tension section. An adjusting nut is located on the chain tighteners of each side of the frame. These nuts pull backwards the tension roller of the conveyor, increasing the belt tension. By tightening or loosening one side of the tensioner section the belt can be steered.
                        • BRS Troughed belt conveyor

                        • The Troughed belt conveyor is used for the quick and efficient transport of various materials such as glass, cans, sand, and paper over greater distances. This conveyor requires little maintenance because it is driven by a drum motor and all the bearings are lubricated for life.

The modular construction of the troughed belt conveyor is exceptionally durable
The troughed belt conveyor has a U shape over so-called “trough frames”, which are mounted on a solid steel-plate frame. The trough frames are made of three bearing-mounted rollers with a diameter of 80 mm with the trough angle of 25°. The distance between the trough frames is 1000 mm. On both sides the rubber belt runs over a steel plate over a width of about 50 mm. On the return side, the rubber belt runs over support ring rollers, that are mounted at a max. distance of 2500 mm from each other.
