Company Profile

Asia is a region leading the way in the development and adoption of renewable energy for power generation. With an abundance of natural resources it has the capabilities to achieve great strides in the use of renewable and alternative energy from a range of sources.

The Asian region needs an ample supply of clean, affordable energy to continue its rapid growth in the coming decades. To achieve energy security, developing Asia must actively contain its rising demand, aggressively explore new supply sources and technology, and progressively integrate regional energy markets and infrastructure.

South-east Asia as a region must both contain rising demand and explore cleaner energy options, which will require creativity and resolve, with policymakers having to grapple with politically difficult issues like fuel subsidies and regional energy market integration.

Although the general objectives of the 1979 National Energy Policy remain unchanged, the Five-Fuel Diversification Policy signaled the intention of the Government of Malaysia for concentrated efforts to usher energy sector development on a greener path, by encouraging the use of renewable sources of energy.

Malaysian electricity production is projected to increase with a growth rate of 5.3% from 2005 to 2030. Deployment of renewable energy and advances of renewable energy technology will increase with Feed-in Tariff implementation in Malaysia. Therefore, in order to ensure diversity of fuel sources, a balanced fuel mix is important.
