Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD)

- ILJIN Polycrystalline Diamond (IPOL) is a
material used for cutting tools and wear parts, and is made by sintering
synthetic diamond powder with a binder at high temperature and pressure. It
has become an essential tooling material used to economically process
workpiece materials used in construction, wood processing as well as modern
automobile and aircraft manufacturing. This includes nonferrous materials
such as aluminum, ceramic, wood, silicon, carbide, CFRP, copper, bronze,
titanium, MMC, magnesium etc.; many of which are classified as
difficult-to-cut materials.
Major grade
ILJIN Diamond offers the broadest portfolio of PCD Grades on the market;
from submicron to ultra-coarse-grained (40µm) PCD.

- ILJIN Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (IBON)
is a material used for cutting tools made by sintering CBN powder and
ceramic/metallic binders at high temperature and pressure. ILJIN PCBN,
effectively processes ferrous materials, making it a complementary cutting
material to PCD. IBON has been widely adopted in the processing of cast
irons, ductile irons, sintered irons and other powder metals,
nickel/cobalt-based superalloys, etc., and is considered an enabling
technology in the machining of hardened steels. These workpieces are applied
in a variety of fields such as automobile and aircraft manufacturing.

Premium Synthetic Diamond
- ILJIN Premium Synthetic Diamond (IPD) was developed with ILJIN’s HPHT technology.
It has high hardness and high thermal stability, and a sharp cutting edge at
forming surfaces. IPD has exceptional performance in harsh applications,
such as mining bits and multi-wires to cut Granite. IPD’s high hardness and
specific characteristics of edge and micro chipping properties of particles
enable a reduction of processing load and increased cutting performance.

Metal Bond Diamond
- ILJIN Metal Bond Diamond (IMD) is a synthetic diamond
produced using a unique HPHT process of ILJIN, which offers outstanding
performance for the processing of nonferrous materials. IMD is used for a
range of applications, from Glass and Ferrite processing to CMP Pad
Conditioner.
IMD is designed to be suitable for various applications of Bond Systems
thanks to its flexible coating options with excellent performance, and can
realize a high material removal rate (MMR) and prominent surface finishing.
Continuous development is in progress to improve performance consistency and

spotlighted as a main material for PDC, PCD and PCBN which is
used to cut solar cell and LED materials.

CBN Powder

- ILJIN CBN Powder (IBN) is a very effective and
efficient material for processing various metallic materials such as
super-alloy, bearing steel and heat-treated steel. It improves the quality
of material surface finishing, extends tool life and reduces the power
consumption of processing facilities, enabling the end user to save costs.
IBN products made by ILJIN provide a consistent grinding result and an
extended tool life in processing fields where precise dimensions and quality
are required, including Cam/Crank Shaft and CV Joint, and help the end user
to enhance productivity as well.
