In our Wire Race Bearings, the rolling process does not take place directly between the rolling element and the mating structure, and instead with low friction on the race rings. The layout and design of the bearing rings was performed using 3D CAD models. The grain structure was designed so that the loads placed on the bearing only affect the bearing in tension and compression.
All components are made extremely thin. The inner ring of the bearing assembly is divided, the outer ring is made in one piece. The adjustment of the bearing is done by shims. The carbon housing is provided for attachment to the connecting structure with sleeves made of aluminum. This results in a safe fastening of the connecting parts without stressing the carbon structure.
Load ratings correspond to the equivalent bearing assemblies of aluminum. The stiffness is slightly lower in the radial direction, the tilting rigidity even slightly higher than a comparable aluminum bearing.
Franke wire race bearings with integrated direct drive give you highest energy efficiency. The integration of the motor directly to the bearing, makes it possible to entirely dispense components such as gear and drive pinion. The moving masses thus fall significantly lower – the power loss by factors such as friction and backlash is minimized.
