Moog Inc. Space and Defense Group showcased its digital weapon SMS capabilities on an OH-6A Little Bird helicopter with an audience of roughly 18,000 industry professionals at the Helicopter Association International (HAI) Heli-Expo 2020 tradeshow in Anaheim, California.

Moog’s Advanced Digital Weapon SMS is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) weapons control system that seamlessly integrates with aircraft sensors and mission management systems to provide the air crew with superior fire control. The SMS features a modular, expandable design that can be tailored to the customer’s unique requirements regardless of the host platform and offers unmatched mission capability. Its advanced hardware and software design meets current MIL-STD specification while maintaining the capacity to integrate future weapons for FVL/FARA (Future Vertical Lift/Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft).

Additionally, with a significant and growing combat proven installed base of SMS and other Integrated Systems, Moog will feature its defense aftermarket capabilities. This comprehensive global aftermarket program broadly includes field services; sustainment and modernization capabilities; as well as training and simulation. Moog representatives were available to discuss the unique advantages Moog delivers to the defense market.

HAI Heli-Expo was held at the Anaheim Convention Center. It’s one of the world’s largest trade shows and helicopter expositions. This year’s conference allowed individuals to discover the issues that will shape the future by attending workshops, forums, and events. Attendees had the chance to develop strategic connections with rotorcraft industry professionals as well as experience the latest the industry has to offer through demos and 60+ helicopters on the show floor. Moog was one of over 700 exhibitors from 90+ different countries at this year’s event.
