As a world leader in compact linear motion systems, AMETEK Haydon Kerk Pittman (HKP), a business unit of AMETEK, announces its new EGS04 low-profile precision rail.

The EGS “efficient guided system” is ideally suited for customers in lab automation and electronic assembly whose applications require high speed and highly efficient point-to-point motion. Its stage base combines RGS-style screw supports and a ball bearing profile rail for a lower carriage ride (<16mm), higher speed capability and more efficient, stiffer load support than competitor products.

In addition, the EGS provides a less complex and up to 50% smaller alternative to more traditional belt + gearbox designs. It offers the advantage of an easily integrated “bolt-in” design, which eliminates many facets of a multi-component design, like the need for additional engineering, managing multiple vendors, and integrating a precision assembly.

Other benefits of the EGS include:

  • Travel stroke up to 1 meter (40 inches) without sacrificing speed
  • Mechanical advantage of a screw drive
  • Configuration options that optimize performance for specific applications:
    • NEMA size 11 and 17 hybrid stepper motors
    • BLDC 42mm motors
    • IDEA® integrated drive options
    • Non-motorized
    • Standard and long carriages
    • Various screw leads
    • Rotary encoders
