AR Racking has officially certified the calculation of its corporate CO₂ footprint for the years 2022, 2023, and 2024. The certification was awarded by the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC), which granted the CÁLCULO seal confirming the proper measurement and registration of greenhouse gas emissions.

Official recognition under Spanish climate standards

The CÁLCULO seal confirms that AR Racking has measured and verified its emissions in compliance with Spanish regulatory requirements for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. These include direct emissions from owned or controlled sources and indirect emissions from purchased energy. The certification demonstrates that the company’s greenhouse gas accounting follows officially recognized methodologies and is correctly registered with the relevant authority.

Voluntary measurement of Scope 3 emissions

Beyond regulatory requirements, AR Racking has voluntarily measured and verified its Scope 3 emissions since 2022. Scope 3 covers indirect emissions across the value chain, including suppliers, logistics, and other upstream and downstream activities. By including these emissions, the company takes a more comprehensive approach to understanding its total climate impact and strengthening its sustainability strategy.

Consistency and transparency over three consecutive years

The certification covers three consecutive business years, underlining AR Racking’s commitment to continuous and transparent climate performance measurement. The CÁLCULO seal does not assess the size of the carbon footprint but verifies that emissions are calculated accurately and according to established standards. This consistency creates a reliable baseline for future improvement initiatives.

Alignment with science-based decarbonization targets

In parallel, AR Racking is developing a decarbonization plan that is currently in the definition phase. The company has aligned this process with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which provides a framework for setting emissions reduction targets based on climate science. This alignment supports a structured transition toward measurable and impactful emissions reductions.

Sustainability embedded at group level

According to Grupo Arania’s Sustainability Director, Ana Guinea, accurate measurement is the foundation for meaningful improvement. The repeated CÁLCULO certification reflects continuity and transparency while supporting the development of a credible, SBTi-aligned decarbonization roadmap. These efforts are part of the broader Living Sustainability project at Grupo Arania, which integrates sustainability into strategic decision-making and operational priorities.

Next steps within the OECC framework

The Spanish Ministry distinguishes between three seals: CÁLCULO, REDUZCO for demonstrated emission reduction trends, and COMPENSO for organizations that calculate, reduce, and compensate remaining emissions. AR Racking is currently positioned in the CÁLCULO phase, establishing a solid data foundation for future reduction and compensation steps.
