When new trends in packaging solutions are again presented at the Interpack fair in Düsseldorf in May 2014, mechanical engineers who need information about automation and drives should visit the Baumüller Stand E34 in Hall 15. This is where packaging experts will, amongst other things, be presenting drive-based and PC-based control technology that enables web-based operating and monitoring concepts. With integrated safety, the efficient ProMaster engineering tool and the right powerful hardware, this automation company fulfils all the requirements of the sector, covering the entire range of machine automation. Baumüller covers with the enormous variety of packaging machinery on the market by providing intelligent software solutions based on comprehensive modular concepts, which considerably reduce development and commissioning times. The company also ensures maximum machine availability by providing an integrated production and service concept, which can be used to reduce down-times and to continue production, without the need for any programming or parametrisation expenditure.

Flexible component variety

The vast range of motors which fair visitors can expect from Baumüller comprises compact disc motors, high-torque drives that are also available in kit form, and aseptic solutions for the food and pharmaceutical industries. The DSP, DSC and DSD servo-motor ranges will also be presented. They provide greater flexibility for customers when it comes to drive design. The DSP motor range, in particular, is characterised by the high speeds and wide torque spectrum. With its b maXX 3000 inverter range, Baumüller covers the output range up to 5 kW, whilst retaining a compact form and good concentric running properties. Both the b maXX 3000 and the b maXX 5000, which are available as in-line systems for multiple-axis applications or as individual units, and which can be equipped with optional security modules, operate with the field Buses EtherCAT, POWERLINK, PROFINET IRT and soon also the SERCOS III.

Compact and decentralised

Baumüller will be showing a new product – the decentralised b maXX 2500 drive concept, which can be used for an output up to approx. 6.5 kW in restricted spaces. This range has a nominal torque up to 20 Nm, a maximum standstill torque of 105 Nm and protection rating IP65. The b maXX 2500 also offers real-time Ethernet communication and integrated security technology.
