Clark expands the reach truck series with wider wheel arms

With the help of these, the trucks can pick up different transport aids, such as industrial pallets with a width of 1000 mm. The model’s expansion opens up an even wider range of applications for the SRX series.

Clark offers the reach trucks with load capacities of 1400 and 1600 kg and lifting heights of up to 10.5 m. Like all Clark materials handling vehicles, they are designed according to the proven “built to last” concept. This stands for a solid and functional design with high-quality components that ensure reliable operation with low service costs over the entire service life of the truck. In addition, customers of Clark reach trucks benefit from extensive standard equipment that is unparalleled in the market and this at a comparatively good price-performance ratio.

Focus on safety and handling performance

When it comes to productivity and safety, the SRX is hard to beat: The three-phase AC motors ensure powerful and quiet operation, and travel speed is up to 14 km/h. For safe operation, the reach trucks are equipped with support arm brakes as standard. The 3-point braking reduces the braking distance by up to 20% compared to a truck without support arm brakes. The automatic reduction of travel speed when cornering also ensures a high level of safety.

The reach truck can store and retrieve loads up to a lifting height of 10.5 m. The lifting speed without load is up to 0.7 m per second (m/s) (with load 0.4 m/s). The lowering speed is up to 0.55 m/s with and without load. Safe load handling is ensured by the standard sensor-activated lowering protection and the optional automatic horizontal position of the forks, which is particularly useful at high lift heights. An integrated hydraulic damping system ensures smooth transitions between the mast profiles during storage and retrieval. The lift masts with double T-profiles, specially developed for reach trucks and stiffened on the sides, can better absorb torsions and allow higher residual loads at all lift heights: The truck can store and retrieve a load of 1000 kg at a height of 10 m without any problems.

Perfect energy management

To match energy consumption as closely as possible to power requirements, three different driving profiles can be set: Power mode for maximum power demand, Efficiency for the best mix of handling performance and energy efficiency, and Economy for lighter operations. Regenerative braking when the accelerator is released, when the direction of travel is changed or when the service brake is applied, feeds energy back into the battery. This makes every operation as efficient as possible. A side battery change is standard on the SRX. The operator can quickly replace the battery using the battery extension and a roller bed. This also qualifies the robust reach truck for multi-shift operation.

The vehicles have a high availability, as Clark has largely dispensed with maintenance-intensive components in the design. In the event of maintenance or repair, the simple and quick accessibility to the components ensures short downtimes. With the help of the on-board diagnostics, the service technician can not only read all information on the maintenance and use of the trucks via the high-contrast TFT display, but also read out error codes. There is no need for complex service tools. The display and/or a laptop can also be used to adjust the braking behaviour and the hydraulic functions to the operational requirements. In addition, the display provides the operator with information about all important driving parameters.

High comfort increases productivity

The reach trucks also scores well when it comes to ergonomics: a functional ergonomics concept ensures that the trucks can be operated intuitively and that travel commands can be executed quickly and safely so that the operator can concentrate better on his task and work more productively. This starts with the cabin: the operator gets easy access to the ergonomically designed driver’s workplace via a large and low step (380 mm). Very good leg and headroom awaits him there. Thanks to a clever arrangement of mast profiles, chain guide and lift cylinders, visibility of fork tips and load is excellent.

Easy and ergonomic operation of all lifting functions is ensured by mini levers. All hydraulic functions can be controlled by fingertip and allow for sensitive control. A mono-joystick is also available upon customer request. The trucks have excellent driving characteristics. For example, they are extremely manoeuvrable: The operator can choose between 180° and 360° steering via a push-button switch. With a working aisle width of only 2.75 m, the truck is ideal for use in narrow racking aisles and handling different types of pallets and loads. The electronic power steering with controlled steering movements ensures that the vehicle is easy to operate and behaves as the operator expects.

Tailor-made for the application

Since every warehouse has different requirements for materials handling vehicles, a wide range of additional equipment is available for the reach trucks: among other things, a fork camera and a lift height indicator with lift height preselection are optionally available. This ensures safe load handling up to the top shelf level. In addition, pin-code access, an automatic centre position of the side shifter and an automatic horizontal position of the forks are optionally available.
