Habasit: Precisely brought into position

Habasit will be presenting its complete portfolio for the packaging industry at the FachPack 2021 trade fair in Hall 3C, Stand 201, from 28 to 30 September 2021. Habasit offers custom-fit solutions for the special requirements in packaging technology: HabaSYNC® timing belts ensure the exact positioning of conveyed goods and are thus particularly suitable for stop-and-go operation of automated packaging lines. In different widths, special coatings and freely selectable carrier profiles, they fulfil the most diverse transport tasks. Another focus of the exhibition will be the new folding carton belts with food conformity for the reliable folding of packages.

Packaging processes in particular place high demands on conveyor technology. Goods have to be transported to an exactly defined place at an exactly defined time and often legal requirements, such as in food production, have to be observed. Habasit develops and manufactures conveyor and processing belts as well as timing belts specifically for such requirements, which meet the challenges of this industry. The extensive portfolio for the packaging industry will be presented at Fachpack 2021 in Nuremberg in Hall 3C, Stand 201.

Precise folding of cartons

Habasit is coming up with a new development at this year’s trade fair: Folding carton belts for packaging processes with food conformity according to EU and FDA regulations. They are used to feed packaging material for folding processes in cartoning machines. The belts are available in 3 mm and 4 mm thicknesses.

Their durable, abrasion-resistant thermoplastic cover layers consist of an optimised material mix and ensure gentle and careful handling of the processed material, highest folding precision and excellent machine performance. This goes hand in hand with highest abrasion resistance, surface durability, long belt life and low life cycle costs.
Thanks to a sandwich construction (film/polyester fabric/film), the polyester tensile layer is perfectly protected against external influences. The belt construction ensures flexibility and low energy consumption, combined with high belt strength and excellent bending properties without premature wear.

Significant advantages include a reliable and even grip, precise and smooth handling of the processed goods (without marking the processed goods) as well as easy installation with stable belt tension at the same time.

Smallest deflection – but with grip

As another new development, Habasit presents the modular belt Micropitch M0870 HighGrip 0.3”, for which food approval is available. Micropitch is the first modular belt on the market to offer rubberised surfaces for optimised grip, even with small pitches. The elements can be supplemented as desired with other surfaces from the series (e.g. Flat Top, Flush Grid, Diamond Top, Cone Top).

The modular belts enable the safe transport of goods even in the most confined spaces and master even the smallest transitions without jerks. The use of knife edges makes it possible to transport even small or delicate goods, as the transitions can be kept very narrow by knife edges. The tried-and-tested Saniclip closure system makes both maintenance and cleaning of the belts much easier.

Precise delivery

Among Habasit’s most versatile and successful products are the HabaSYNC® timing belts. These cover a wide range of requirements in packaging technology: from filling and film shrinking to labelling and crate transport. A wide selection of belt types and coatings allow the conveyor to be flexibly adapted to the respective material to be conveyed – even for very demanding sectors such as the food industry. Additionally applied profiles serve to separate, sort and precisely place components. At the customer’s request, Habasit also manufactures carriers in special shapes and dimensions as well as timing belts with milled or perforated holes. With their extensive range of accessories, HabaSYNC® timing belts are often the ideal choice for improving performance or developing new packaging machines.

Depending on the requirement, Habasit offers different end connection solutions: The mechanical pin joint combines the security of a reliable and stable end connection with the advantage of quick installation. The positive belt properties in terms of shape or noise are fully retained; the tooth profile is not changed and there are no restrictions on surface coatings.
The stable hinge joint Hinge Joint is also fully integrated into the timing belt and ensures the easiest handling when changing belts. In contrast to other mechanical end connections, the Hinge Joint is transversely and extensively stiff as well as flexible.
